Veteran Posts: 153 Location: Massachusetts | Attached are the last pictures I took before I put the Savoy away, circa mid-November, now it's just a memory. Worse is that I only had the car since late October. God willing there will be plenty of time. Besides, with all that putting around town showing my friends that this funny looking car I've been working on for the past 3 years is real, I've loaded up the plugs, so it will need a blast come April or so. Happy Holidays everyone, let's look forward to the coming season, it can't get here soon enough. The 2 door Club Coupes like the one pictured above are kind of special since I belive there is not many left of them today. It's seems to me it's mostly all about convertibles and 2 door hard-tops. The second dimmer switch is the gearvendors overdrive unit as pointed out above. Initially we were going to hide it under the carpet, but enough hiding, the car is what she is. The paint is Glazurite urethane single stage applied by Michael Labrecque of Labrecque Autocraft of East Windsor CT. The red lamp to the left of the column is the line lock indicator (the push button for that is benieth the transmission buttons & the toggle below is for the electric cutouts. www.labrecqueautocraft.com Mike is known for his black cars. There is a 69 Cuda & a 57 Ch**y running around my area with his same stunning black paint. The feedback from all of you is most gratifying, I suppose it is owing to the fact that the Savoy is not a typically seen muscle car these days and that those of us on this site appreciate cars that are not "typical." The floormats I have came from Tom White of Hopkinton MA, owner of the 58 Fuel Injection DeSoto (that appeared in Hemmings Classic Car) and who built my buddy Naif Makol's 59 Dodge Custom Royal Lancer Super D-500 convertable (that appeared in two issues of the same magazine) There is another fellow on this site From Westborough MA who has them too, at present I believe only the fronts are available. Veteran Posts: 153 Location: Massachusetts | We used a 1971 vintage 727 torqueflite for its part-throttle downshift & the ability to add beef to the internals (we used hemi parts) as I suspect as good as the old cast iron torqueflite is, it wouldn't put up with the power the motor makes for long. So we installed conventional E-brake cables to the rear wheels along with later B body brakes. I cannot reccomend gearvendors enough, it allows me to run 4:11 gears & still drive the car on the highway. It can be set to engage automaticaly or by using the foot switch. Very slick & worth every penny. Below are two pictures of the unit. It requires a custom length drive shaft. You seem to have push-button controls, did you have to make any modifications because of the non-original tranny? Wish this paintshop was closer to me - this is exactly the standard of finish I would like. Its worth paying the extra buck for this. Hope you don´t mind I save these pics on my computer... I got to show these to my future paintshop guys, then they should get the idea whats the level expected. I bet the sound from those pipes is pretty amazing... Veteran Posts: 153 Location: Massachusetts | Imperial Supply makes a cable, bracket & a weaker detent spring for the valve body to allow the conversion. My problem was my custom headers don't allow the cable to pass by without immediate meltdown. So we terminated the cable on the engine cross member with a fabricated bracket from there we used a rod to the transmission shift arm. It works well. Dan | ||
