Expert Posts: 3589 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Location: Blythewood, SC | There has been no word on Miss Belvedere since Jessie Rock took possesion at Ultra-One. The only update has been from that liar Steve Hobby. Several people have contacted Mr. Rock and asked for updates with no response. Now I have a theory (that I came up with stone sober) The car has been destroyed. Here's why I think this. Hobby announced that the hunt was on for parts to restore the car. I believe that Mr. Rock has begun disassembling the car to restore it, and has permanently destroyed the car. This is due to Mr. Rock's ill-placed belief that simply removing the rust from the car will return it's function. I believe that his efforts have resulted in severe damage. It gets darker. I think the car is now being used as a parts car. Several 57 hard tops have sold on e-bay and Craig's List recently. I believe that one of them is now at Ultra-One being restored to be passed off as Miss Blevedere. Was ANYONE smart enough to photograph the Body Number tag on the cowl of Miss Belvedere? I didn't, so I have no way of knowing if the ACTUAL Miss Belvedere will appear again.

If the car will be shown to the public (and I guess that will happen), it will be very easy for one of us to spot if it is the same car or not. That rust had eaten away a lot of the frame as well as the body. The body could be fixed up and leaving no trace, but to fix the frame and the undercarriage will be difficult. Anyway, I have always stated my opinion in this case; Leave her as she was found - that's one of a kind with no alike allover the world! If you patch her up and renovate her, that's just gonna be yet another Plymouth

Anyway, he branched out into '58-'64 Chevrolets. He started advertising in club magazines that he wanted a certain color '58 Impala coupe. As it turned out, he knew Buddy Holly had bought a '58 Impala for his father. After he found and bought an Impala which matched the one Buddy Holly's father had, he got ahold of Hot Rod Magazine and had them do an article about how he found Buddy Holly's father's '58 Impala. He claimed it had been sitting behind a body shop in Lubbock since the 1960s. He had some hag pose with the car for pictures. She claimed to be the Peggy Sue Buddy Holly sang about. Yeah, right. So I can believe somebody is going to restore another car and call it "Miss Belvedere." K.

LOL! ![]() Now now, I'm sure she was a very nice girl! I didn't get any shots of the cowl tag so I can't help, but I get nervous thinking about that teller of tall tales (liar) Steve Hobby being involved with Ultra-None.

I didn't ask what parts those were. The seller is located in northeast Washington state. Sounds like something's rotten in Denmark if you ask me. ---John

So a reconstructed Miss Belvedere could be like the axe which is on it's seventh handle and fourth head, but has been in the same family for five generations. ![]() K.

There IS a sort of Shakesperian/Greek Tragedy/O. Henry-esque irony about the utter destruction (or, should I say De-construction?) of the car, at the hands of "The Family", and Ultra F-U-C-K UP, in regards to their complete disdain for the car's preservation and its unique historical artifact status, in relation to their own pure selfish profit motivations. Can you say: "Bad CAR-ma" ????

Expert 5K+ Posts: 5140 ![]() ![]() ![]() Location: cornpatch county, Southwest IOA | This week I was thinking about those concrete blocks under Miss Belvie. You know the rear springs rusted so bad they broke-- what kind of condition do you think the frame was in? The skids may have been its only support left. I would like to know what the contest winner- owner has to say concerning ultra none and Miss Belvie now....................................MO

Extreme Veteran Posts: 585 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Location: SE Arizona | There are a few remarks from the C Body Dry Dock post ( http://www.cbodydrydock.com/forum_viewtopic.php?7.52295.0 ) that come to mind Steve. “…….I got lucky I guess and the guy at Ultra One and we hit it off. We've been recruited to source for him and assist in the re-building…. ‘ “……It needs a frame, I already located one for him……..” “……..Over all? It's all in how much the owner is willing to spend…….” I think Brian has hit the nail on the head as anyone who has rebuilt/restored a deteriorated car can tell you once you start it is often a case of once you start where do you STOP fixing it at. Ok they want to put a frame under it with the ultimate goal of making it move under its own power. If the car survives being lifted off the old frame (which I seriously wonder about) it will need: Rear springs, Chances are the rear end will need to come apart to at least have a few bearings replaced. The engine running again………you might save the block and head castings The transmission….maybe the case will be good Brakes (anybody think the original wheel and master cylinders are salvageable LOL) A new seat will be required just to sit on......of course that's assuming there is even enough floor left to bolt them to one the carpet is pulled up......oh yeah and what about carpet etc? It will go on and on (as most of us here already know) and become an exercise in finding out just how deep the owners and Ultra Ones pockets are. Ultra One had a vested intrest in the car turning out in great shape.....the advertising could potentially create HUGE sales. If the car turns out to be a time and money consuming mess they will distance themselves as far away as possible. I think it’s even money right now if the world tour will be on a car transporter or a piece at a time on E Bay. Edited by Mike P 2008-05-14 6:04 AM

I fail to see any profit motive in this at all. It will likely cost $50k to $60k to restore the old girl with a few of the original pieces in tact and then what do they have??? They have a restored Belvedere worth $30,000 and of "no special interest" to anyone. I think they are just ignorant and selfish!! George

I also agree with Brain C. those ultra dumbasses have destroyed Miss B. and Mike would be right about the block and head castings possibly being useable. The bottom line is how far do they take the hoax of her restoration. Jimmy

Expert Posts: 3589 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Location: Blythewood, SC | I think my theory has been proven somewhat wrong now that Mike McKenna and others have inspected the car. It has been damaged pretty bad by it's trip to Ultra-None, but it is not fully destroyed yet. I do believe that it will be a body swap with key damaged parts swapped onto it before the whole story shakes out.
