Finally I did nothing else than searching for parts. Thanks to Wizard my Chrysler is back on it's wheels. Now He starts with desludging the engine.

Some pictures of the engine? Here I got some - thank you very much, Wizard.

Happy Motoring!

Dieter

You're welcome Dieter, comes Monday, I'll take a dive into the cleaning up again!!

Went to a local community car show and entered the Matador. There were only two Mopars there, mine and a 99 Viper. Several people told he how they remembered the 60 dodges and several said they or their family had one. The best story was a guy who said the family's 53 Ford blew the engine so they had it hauled to a junkyard. They told the junkyard they needed another car and for $150 they sold them a 60 dodge polara, 2 door hardtop, with dual crossrams. He said it had a lot of power but burned a lot of oil. So his dad traded it back into the junkyard 6 months later......

Next job was to lift my Bro Inlaws 60 Fury in the air and remove all the Wheels, as he had a tyre blow out and just purchased 4 New American Classis Wide White Walls from Northant Tyres here in the UK, darn they were expensive as he goes for 2 1/2 - 3 inch Wide Whites, 215/75/14 Radials Cost £1100 delivered, thats about $1700, will be fitting them this week.. Old tyres were about 6 years old and Outer Walls very badly cracked

Here is how these 2 1/2" White Walls sit on a standard Original Plymouth Rim,, Remember these are 215/75/14 Radials, But give a similar appearance to the 750/14 Crossply, Major difference being 7" Wide Tread running on the Ground compared to the Crossplys 4" .. Result is Way much better handling and not feeling like you are on Cycle Tyres

That front wheel arch molding is hard to find (you probably know that)

I havnt seen any for sale in my time with a plymouth, everyone saved the big shiney bit, but it looks like that molding got scrapped

If you need a picture of what they look like, mine arnt fitted yet, but I would have to dig them out

Hi Michael

This is my Bro Inlaws 60 Fury, but yes he is aware they are missing, I think he had one but it is all busted up, he searched for a while for the Large Front stone guards as this fury never had them from new, think he bought those about 4 years ago, I think he has gave up looking for the missing arch trim, but i will ask him next time i see him, He is already a Member here but rarely logs in recently,,

Thanks Clive

Mine was the other way, it was built with the shields, but the previous owner kept them for his, but forgot to keep the front moldings

When I found out what happened, I couldnt stop grinning to myself (as in, he didnt keep the harder parts to find)

I have the missing sheilds now

By the way, I love your brother in laws car, I wish mine was that close to going, but dodge first

Last week I exchanged some parts on the original starter on my '57 Chrysler because ever since I got the car it was a very slow starter.
With a spare starter the engine spins over a little faster again while starting.

Also reinstalled a front swaybar and welded some turndown exhaust tips at the rear.
Some PO had once installed the exhaust tips straight ahead, right through the rear supportmember and rearbumper by torching cutouts.
This is all fixed now.

I finished installing shoulder belts, disc brake conversion & fixing misc stuff in my '61 Lancer wagon so I am now working on installing a 700R4 overdrive transmission into my '56 Plymouth. You can see from the picture that the floor tunnel has PLENTY of room for a very large transmission. The current position of the trans is only about 1/4-1/2" too low; almost where it needs to sit. No floor mods required and the mounting brace just needs to be moved back 2". I will probably cut it and weld the center portion 2" aft.

This 700R4 trans was originally cable shifted and the setup is similar to what would be required to connect it to the push buttons. Only problem is the cable is too short to reach and would likely need to be beefier when making it longer. But anyway, this should be a good indication of how to set it up to work with the push buttons.

Didn't think pics would be needed to show the simple things I did, but here goes...

Before, with the painted and cut out bumper (not quite visible in the photo is the also cutout chassis part);

yeah, I don't miss that '80-vibe at all anymore on the car.

Just a short trip today in the car and got reminded of the non-power steering in it, so I'm now looking into converting the car to power steering by maybe using a '64 Power steering box.

If you do that conversion, be sure to show us. I am converting my black/white '57 Windsor to power steering using a '59 column I picked up from John.

I have the '64 PS-box in my garage for a dimension check.
The frame boltholes seem pretty much at the same locations at the moment.
Haven't looked closer to the '57 box yet but I think the '64 steeringcolumn has to be installed as well.

The pitman arm is slightly longer on the '64 box. So I hope the '57 pitman has the same diameter and spline count, otherwise a '64 idler arm has to be installed too.
Installing the '64 idler arm is a better way to go I think as the longer pitman arm will give a slightly quicker steering action to the wheels.

Hey, that is really neat. How did you do it? My '57 Truck is getting a 354 motor and I want to put the "Power Giant 354" on the valve covers and wondered how I could go about it in paint.

Here's some pics; been driving Mr. H., too, in anticipation of a Springtime (next couple weeks,
it seems, out West, now) road trip.

Looking good as usual, Neil. How many miles have you put on it since you bought it?

Bought H. sight-unseen in OCT 1980, from an Old Cars Weekly advertisement, for $3,200 ($18k-ish, nowadays).

He had 28-32K miles on him, then, and now has about 72K on the 'clock', but there were a couple years when
his odometer wasn't working 'well'.....in fact, got a replacement speedometer/odometer installed, now, but,
the 72K is a reasonable number for the mileage that has passed under his chassis, since 6/57, when he was first
purchased.

Even found a small photo of his original owner (I believe....name of Archie Hastings, from Indiana DMV
records) and wife, that was found 'wedged', underneath the dashboard, as a sort of Time
Capsule[?]

Finally finished up mounting my power steering pump, alternator and AC compressor. Took a lot longer than I thought it would to line everything up, but I'm happy with the results. I have a laser-cut aluminum bracket on the front of the alternator which is connected to a turnbuckle assembly with heim joints. I also have a turnbuckle with heim joints as a brace for the rigidly mounted AC compressor. I'm now working on new carb linkage or adapting my factory linkage to fit the new quick fuel carb and hot heads intake.

I've also connected my shift cable, speedo cable, and the entire driveline is now in place and ready.
