Regular Posts: 91 ![]() ![]() ![]() Location: Naestved, DK-Denmark | Hi Folks. I have a 1957 Dodge regent that I thought i would show. I imported the car in 2003 from a Canadian field, where it had been sitting for about 25 years.....-in pretty bad shape, due to natural sandblasting(all the floorboards, braces, rockers, etc. blasted away), and the engine seized up.... After about 4 years I got the car in drivable state, but was so foolish to sell the car...... :( -I have never regret anything more than this.... Then, this year, I got the chance to trade "her" back, and I am a happy man again.... -But, I admit there is a long way to go, but I´m sure she's gonna be fine some day. -Hope to hear from someone else who has one of these "Plodges". -Stig Hansen, Denmark P.S.: I need these pieces: "Regent" emblem, door-panels, headliner, park light lenses, and more... ! Posts: 19171 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Location: bishop, ca | This car has the Plymouth-styled (front, anyway) rubber floor mat; Dodge had a different pattern on its floor mat. I don't see any tail pipes on it. The car appears to have the 4-bbl (with dual exhaust "Power Package"?) and radio/dual antennae, but, manual steering and brakes....? Stig, you can have a lot of fun, upgrading/adding OEM options to this car! Those look like 1956 Dodge wheel covers, but the 56'ers were 15" pieces, and your car's wheels look to the the standard 1957 14" wheels, so, are those aftermarket wheel covers on it? Check out Chris Clark's 1956 Dodge's wheel covers, one thread below this thread...! They DO look good on your car, whatever type/year that they might be. Edited by d500neil 2009-04-20 4:50 PM

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Looking Good Stig! I have really decent Regent emblems. I'll post pics of them if you like. looks like you need outside door handles too, I have some. Price would be very reasonable, to help out a fellow Regent owner especially!

Check out Chris Clark's 1956 Dodge's wheel covers, one thread below this thread...! They DO look good on your car, whatever type/year that they might be. This car is a Canadian-built 1957 Dodge Regent - the Canadian Dodge-DeSoto dealers' version of the Plymouth Savoy. Just as the Regent used the Savoy's exterior trim, instrument panel, seat upholstery, and door panels, the Regent used the Savoy's floor covering. The engine should be a 303-cid poly V8 mated to a Powerflite transmission. Torqueflite was an option only on the Mayfair V8 and standard on the Custom Royal (313-cid V8). Not surprising to see a low-priced car in the 1950's without power steering or power brakes. And more so in Canada. The average Canadian motorist was not into all that power equipment back in those days. We had stronger arms and legs back then! Other options, from what I can see, include cigar lighter, glove box lock, the plastic steering wheel, instrument panel padding, radio, heater, Power Pak, and exterior Sportone trim. Other options available included 2-way power seats, Solex glass, power steering, power brakes, overdrive, prismatic interior rear view mirror, windshield washer, chrome drip moulding, variable speed electric windshield wipers, back-up lights, and wheel covers. The wheel covers on the Crusader, Regent and Mayfair models were similar to the ones on the Custom Royal (Coronet in the U.S.) but with a smooth, emblem-less centre section. Electric window lifts were available only on the Mayfair and Custom Royal.

Regular Posts: 91 ![]() ![]() ![]() Location: Naestved, DK-Denmark | Hi all. Thanks for your comments ...-I really appreciate any help I can get on this car The engine is correctly said a 303 CID, with a 4 barrel, and should to my knowledge be a 318 with a smaller bore, delivering 240 HP. I don't know much about the "power pack", but there was dual exhaust on the car when I bought it.... -Unfortunately, the pictures of the car , in black, is as the car looks now :( -the guy I sold to started by ripping off all scripts, hood-ornament, handles, etc., and painted the car matt-black.... I HAVE the pieces, but I could sure use some "Regent" scripts in a better shape (the one is missing "Re"...) The wheel caps is , as said correctly, from a 1956 Dodge, and the wheels are 15 Inches...(the car was bought with only one 14 Inch wheel... (!), and NO caps) -Stig

I´m kind of obsessed (-just like Jeff I think maybe these (and all " 3 years ahead")cars are some of the most beautiful cars ever made. -Jeff: I´ll PM you about the "Regent" script. (If of any interest, I have a 1958 Regent Owners Manual) -Hope to get my car to look just like yours someday !!! -Stig

(!), and NO caps) -Stig The American Plymouth used a 301 (277 in the Plaza) while the 318 was a Fury engine in 1957. The bore and stoke numbers for the 1956-59 A block engines : 277 - 3.75" x 3.13" 301 - 3.91" x 3.13" 303 - 3.81" x 3.31" 313 - 3.87" x 3.31" 318 - 3.91" x 3.31" 326 - 3.95" x 3.31" Your Dodge Regent looks to be in pretty decent shape. Most 1957-59 Chrysler Corporation cars were rust buckets within five years and went downhill from there. Which is why there are few survivors.

Member Posts: 44 ![]() Location: winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada | Wow, a Canadian Dodge in Denmark! I have a '58 Regent and am located in Winnipeg in central Canada. I did a thread on the car on this site a couple of years ago. My Regent is a four door sedan, moss green metalic with a white roof, and flat head 251 six cylinder with push button automatic. Am curious to know how many other Regent owners there are out there?

Back in the day, probably J.C. Whitney. Now I am not sure. There is this ebay seller who does 50/50 splits and full bench seats. You could contact them and ask about 60/40 fronts. They do lots of colour combos to order. https://www.ebay.com/itm/325605239432 ![]() ![]() Edited by 56D500boy 2023-07-21 10:13 AM
