Elite Veteran Posts: 802 Location: Norcross (Atlanta area), GA | Seafoam Green was a popular color in the 50s, but on this restored '60 Savoy it is quite brilliant. Just, wow! For a fully restored base car with no options it definitely turns heads, with a Slant Six and manual everything. As of this post, five days to go on this eBay auction, car is located in Branson, Missouri USA. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Classic-Car-Very-Rare-Plymouth-Savoy... Location: Parts Unknown | Which model has the three chrome darts near the fin end ? Can't remember for sure, but there was a real decent one in this color up on the north side of town a few years ago. Colors like this really fit the period look of the fins and other styling queues. Very nice !

Expert Posts: 2905 Location: little rock, AR | I believe the Fury is the one that had three darts on each fin. Mine has the two tone body, Brown /White top. Mine looks just like Ben Deutchman's car. I want to apologize if I misspelled Ben's last name. However mine is also the slant and manual stripper car. I regretted selling the car a few years ago and glad I had the opportunity to repurchase it this year. There is notjhing like those HUGE FINS.

Expert Posts: 2612 Location: Parts Unknown | I know these are cars you don't see everyday, but only 88 ??? How would one find that out anyway ??? Does the seller mean 4 dr Savoy's (88) or all '60 Plymouth's ??? I'm not convinced this is accurate . . .

Location: Parts Unknown | I am unaware of any way a person could possibly account for how many of anything are left, ..... or even licensed. State DMV's are anything but easy to work with on those kind of references, let alone trying to get some sort of results out of all jurisdictions. As for how many survive ? Anytime anyone says this is one of only "X" number to survive, you can pretty much know they are full of fecal matter unless it is some crazy deal where only 6 were made and all are accounted for as either survivors or some final disposition. Plymouth sold a lot of cars in 1960 and they held up reasonably well so that a lot of them survive today. I'd much rather be hunting 60 Plymouth cars and parts than 58 DeSoto stuff !

Posts: 19146 Location: bishop, ca | Back in the 80's, there was a company which advertised that it could access all states' DMV records, and could tell you how many of a certain year/make/model were currently registered----the results(if true) were obviously dependent upon the accuracy of the states'/owners' information TO the DMV's. Back then, IIRC--I got the document in my archives---there were something like 118 57 Custom Royal convertibles registered in the US. Of course, today, most-all of them are currently re-located ELSEWHERE.......

Location: Parts Unknown | OK, ..... so let's say you CAN get a list of all currently registered (insert make-year-model here). I own .... uh, 5 old cars. One is registered. I suspect most of us don't keep the tabs current on cars we don't drive / are in the project stage. Most guys I know in the hobby have more cars than I do and an even greater percentage are not registered. That probably makes for FAR more cars NOT registered than registered in the big picture. I once knew of more 58 Fireflite convertibles than even the NDC knew of. That was my job. I have since discovered a few more. But if someone were trying to find out how many still exist, chances are they would take it on "good authority" from NDC numbers that "X" survive today. Not very accurate. Who knows how many of any car still sit quietly tucked away in collections, old barns, basements, garages ???? I would consider anyone's claims of absolute numbers to be suspect, at best. On most cars there just is no way to know where they all went.

Elite Veteran Posts: 988 Location: Kansas City, Kansas | I know when I registered my '60 DeSoto in KS, they didn't want to know the model. So my state wouldn't know if a car was a Fireflite or Adventurer (or a Savoy or a Fury). I did ask the lady if she could tell me how many '60 DeSotos were registered in KS (this was in 1997). She told me "two". Mine and one other in Topeka. I am sure she was not authorized to give me that info, but I must have looked harmless (big mistake!).

Expert Posts: 2612 Location: Parts Unknown | When I was getting the title for my sedan the lady just put Dodge as the make, and Dodge as the model - I said it is a Seneca and she didn't care (or change it) My Pioneer is titled as such cuz I guess the lady that typed that one up "cared"
