Expert Posts: 3969 Location: DFW, TX | According to StillOutThere, the 265 code is on virtually every 1957 Chrysler, so it is meaningless. http://www.forwardlook.net/forums/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=19000 I don't know about the 319 code.

Expert Posts: 1819 Location: Vancouver, BC | Kenny J. - 2009-11-03 7:43 PM I must be blind...where is the 265 code on here? Your tag has 269. On the Imperial IBM cards I have seen column 26 is labelled "Route". So, I suspect 265 and 269 are the ways the car was delivered from the factory to the dealer. But I do not know the methods used for each number. I believe Dodge had column 67 for "Route".

Location: Under the X in Texas | If 26_ is for routing codes then it is still confusing because my Kiekhaefer car 300C hardtop has a 265 potential "routing code" on its data plate and on its IBM card and it had no route to speak of because all Kiekhaefer ordered cars were picked up by either himself personally or one of his employees at the factory and driven to either Fond du Lac or Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Mercury Outboard's staff photographer snapped a picture of the Charcoal Gray car when it arrived behind Plant #6, "the race car plant", in Oshkosh, and as you will note it has not yet been registered and has not received its front license plates. Location: Under the X in Texas | 57burb - 2009-11-04 3:47 PM SOT, I have a question. What is the story on that very rough 300 in your avatar picture? It's a striking photo. I ran into that on the internet sometime somewhere and liked it for its artistic value, the same as what you are recognizing. When I needed an avatar I looked through my pics files and decided that would be cool and shrunk it for use. I don't know anything about where that rusting C hardtop might be or have been when the pic was taken and can only say "R.I.P". Thanks for the compliment. The pic of Exner laying his hands on a clay on your posts is very special as well!

If your car has that number, then it either was planned to have been delivered to K., to or someone else, that way, or, it is a sort of Scheduling typographical mistake. But, that's how it was 'scheduled' to have been delivered.

Location: Under the X in Texas | Well Neil, I'm sorry but once again you are wrong. Any car that Kiekhaefer ever ordered from Chrysler was always with the understanding that it would be picked up at the factory and driven away. Chrysler knew that before the IBM card was ever punched to build the car or the data plate stamped for attachment to the radiator support. Neil, don't you ever try to tell me anything about my cars. You can pontificate all you want to others and some of them may believe you but you can not preach to me because you have created a real enemy in me in the last few days in another thread about a certain 300F. That thread had to be wiped from this web site by the moderators because you so badly drug it into the gutter. Shame on you. Neil, if you would respond to me in private emails between our home computers I wouldn't have to write to you in public but you are too much of a coward to work this out like a man between us. You tried to embarass me in public FIRST so back at you in public as your choice sir. Someone show me something IN PRINT from Chrysler Corporation stating that 26_ codes are shipping determinations for 1957 Chryslers (not Dodges) and I will consider this issue settled. As always, I want to see documentation. I'm sure not taking Neil Vedder's word on it. Why should I?

Extreme Veteran Posts: 566 Location: Wichita, Kansas | OK you two, stop it. I like both you guys (never met in person, but that's beside the point), but this bickering between people is why I left a a couple years or so ago and did not come back until a few months ago. I have an idea. Let's all get together and have a beer and chill the heck out. I don't care if it is literally or figuratively, but some chilling needs to happen. This is my thread, so I feel I can step in here. Fair enough? Matt
