Board Moderator & Exner Expert 10K+ Location: .Norfolk..Mafia.. ,England UK | 58 Plymouth Belv 2dr HT. http://classiccars.com/Classifieds/Listing.aspx?data=6A348A526FA80D... This is a "project" car, ("Christine?"), that is restorable and is about 80% complete. It DOES NOT run. The body is straight with normal rust in the floorboards and major rust in the rocker panels and trunk area. The front fenders are from a 1957 Plymouth and are in fair condition. They HAVE NOT been modified for use with 1958 Plymouth headlights. The headlights in the photos have been posed and ARE NOT actually installed. The golden "V" emblem is a plastic reproduction. The car was saved from destruction at the hands of a youthful hot rodder. It was in pieces and a large hole has been cut in the firewall, (a replacement piece is provided). Also, one body support in the frame is bent. The seats were stored outdoors and the front seat and backs are badly rusted. Major interior pieces are missing. The heater control has been damaged but a replacement is provided. The front seat supports/slides have been repaired and work perfectly. The 318 engine and Torqueflite transmission are from another car and the condition of each is unknown. The original transmission was a Powerflite. The car is painted in rust primer and needs complete stripping and repaint. The glass is not tinted and is in good condition except the windshield has a lamination problem. The dash has been repainted red. The torsion bars are good. The rear springs need replacement and the brake system is total trash. Drums, shoes, and wheel cylinders and a spare rear end/axle assembly are provided. The roof rear has some minor damage. The bumper guards are in good condition and have been acid cleaned. They need to be neutralized and repaired before rechromming. The radio has been professionally serviced and works great. The 40" rear dual antennas have been electrically restored but the bases have some minor pits. The lower front grill trim, wheel covers, and rear stone guards all have small dents and dings and need repair. The gas fill door does not work and is bolted in place for photos. The aluminum grill needs repair, cleaning, and re-etching. The front fender mirrors are new and are made of plastic. Some known missing pieces are: starter, exhaust system, shocks, gas tank and outer fill tube, front fender spears, "Belvedere" script, (both sides), one park light assembly, back-up light lens, right side door lock, glovebox, trim under the lower trunk opening, (over license plate), and parking brake and speedometer cables. The condition of the windshield wiper system is unknown. The car has a clear Texas title. Conditions of sale: As is, no warranty, local pickup, no trade, and funds verified before sale is complete. Local inspection is invited

Extreme Veteran Posts: 394 Location: Royal Oak, MI | I broke down and called the owner... told him about my history with the car. Nice guy. Seems that he's the third owner since I saw this Belvedere in that junkyard 21 years ago. He said that the young guy who owned the car before him had the body mounted on a '76 Monte Carlo chassis with a one-piece flip-up front clip from a '59 Plymouth grafted on it! What people do to these cars... Edited by Boris56 2009-12-10 4:34 PM

Member Posts: 7 | Does anyone know if this car ever got sold? Cause if not I may chase it... And the description says how the body support on the frame is bent, so bare with me cause this is gonna sound stupid, how bad is it when the body support on the frame is bent (cause to me it sounds like a major selling point) and how hard is it to fix? Excuse me if I sound like a retard cause I'm only just learning this stuff... Thanks Sean

Thanks Sean ================================= Fixing a body support is likely easier to do the actual fix than it is to get the body off the frame and out of the way to do the work. But if a person plans to take the body off the frame to repair the floors anyway, then I'd say it's no big deal. I prefer working with the heavier metal than I do the tin.

Expert Posts: 2002 Location: Branson, MO | I've been chastised on this forum for my less than kind remarks about some of the cars I see for sale and the ridiculous price they are advertised or offered for. C'mon guys, is there really $7K worth of value in this car? If there is, I seriously don't see it.

Even though this ad is over 6 years old, I would have bought it then or now. I realize it's been hacked, and I'd talk the seller down as much as I could, but... 2 door hardtop parts: Sportone trim with inserts: $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ Ribbed driprail trim: $$$$$$$$$$$$$ stainless driprail trim: $$ Hood ornament: $$$$ V grill emblem (fake): $$ Bumper wings: $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ 2 door hardtop body: $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ Dual rear antenna: $$$ Stone guards: $$ 58 Lower grill with stainless: $$$$$$$$$$$ Even the stainless for the windshield and rear window are worth something, hardtop only The only thing this car doesn't have that's desirable is the deluxe steering wheel and torqueflite transmission Edited by 61imp 2016-04-06 4:39 PM
