Hi All !

Nice to see that you have keept the thread alive, I have not been in here for a while, so I'm glade.

To "The Chrysler Kid" I have never seen or even heard of a "Dartline" Wagon, so I think it must be home made, but it would be fun to see.

GSP392 If you look early'er in this thread, you will find the original confidential "dealer only" brochure, that I have put in here, it will tell you
exactly what the "Dartline" model is, and what Spring options was abel to buy on the other models.

Thanks Torben, I'll keep looking through the thread and see if I can find any information of the paint divider "sweep" trim option.

Hi GSP392 !

I'm a bit confused, when i look at your pictures of partcars, is Your Windsor a 1957 or a 1958, because they are 2 different cars, the '57 is a Chrysler all the way,
but the '58 is build on a Dodge frame, and use even some body parts from the Dodge, so if it is a 1957 then you probberly have to find material from 1957, because the
"Dartline" was only build in 1958, so the "Dartline" brochure will only show the trim options for spring 1958.

Hi Torben,

The car which I plan to restore is a '58 Windsor 2 door hardtop. It doesn't have the "Dartline" trim option, instead it has the paint divider "sweep" trim option.
I also have a '57 Windsor 4 door sedan parts car. I'm going to use the '57 side trim because I like it better than the '58. I also like '57 tail lights better than '58. I know the '57 and '58 Windsor don't share the same sheet metal for the front, but I got a deal on the '57 and there aren't many to choose from anymore so I got what I could find.

Ok that explane's the '57.

I must admit, I like the '57 tail light better to, but if I ever get around to restore my "Dartline",
I will proberly keep it original.

I know it is hard to find parts, I just hope there will be some left to me.

Hi Torben, my summer has been productive. The biggest gain in parts for me are from the '57 Imperial that I got earlier this summer. I also scored a few '30s era Ford flathead V8s. I hope you had a good summer too.

Thanks for the good thoughts Torben!

It was a good summer, but not much accomplished on the Windsor Spring Special lately. Need to order a new gas tank sender and put the tank back in, then she will be ready for a trial start-up to see if she will run after 20 years sitting in New Mexico! We have just about every part needed to finish her, except seat covers and dash pad... not much was missing. Had to find 1 back up lens, a straighter grille, hood ornament, and the repro'd grille emblem... all done. Bought some front end parts just in case. I need to get 3 or 4 pcs of stainless straightened and polished. I will run her in original sun-faded paint for awhile, the only body work needed is the R R 1/4 panel only, due to an accident early in the car's life and a leak, the rest is dry Southwest awesome and original.

Hi GSP392 and firedome !

I have had the best summer in a lot of years in Denmark, so we have enjoy'ed our '59 Spectator,
and the company of our son with his '64 Dodge 440 and daugther with both there partners.

Good to hear that you both have had a good summer to, and that you got some luck in the parts department,
beside beeing productive.
I have not found anything for my Dartline, and I need a lot, the worst is that I need the entire right rear back fender.
and my Spectator is in need of a little rust work and a few new parts, but still runs good.

We have a little work on the Spectator and my sons 440 this winther, but not so much that it kill's my mood,
hope you all will fill this thread with your storys, pictures and finds, and of caurse any new info abouth other Dartline's,
so we all can enjoy it.

OK; it's September; you Nordic-types can now go get back inside your garages and get some WORK done, on your cars!

BTW, the temperature out here, is in the 90's F/34 C.

Hi d500neil !

I'm glad it's not that hot here, we are down to around half, maby a little more, but it is still nice.
I like it best when it is around 25 C., but you must be use to it living there, so it can not be a problem for you.

Exciting News Dartline fans!

Another '58 Dartline has turned up. And ... it's up for sale! A friend of mine drives a delivery route and spotted it the other day. He sent me this picture from his cellphone.  He didn't have time to check it out more, but asked a car-guy at one of his stops if he knew anything on it.  He was told it was supposed to run & drive, the owner/dealer's name is Richard, and they thought the asking price was around $4k.  Remember, that's all about third- or fourth-hand info.  Sorry, I don't have any other details.  It's about an 1-1/2hour drive from me.  I'd love to run out and check it out in person, but I just don't have the time right now.

There is a phone number visible on the sign, but it's different than the one my friend gave me.  He had 701-290-6500.

One of us Dartline lovers need to give her a good home!

If you find out more, please fill us in.

Looks like a very decent car!

One thing I must say about '58 Windsors in general, they sure had a cheesy looking and flimsy stamped grille, so cheap looking compared to the classy extruded or cast aluminum grille on '57s... wish my '58 had the '57 grille. And you will almost never see one with the original black plastic center insert in that gold grill emblem.

Hi 58 Windsor !

Say thanks for the spotting to your friend, the car dosn't look bad, it could be interesting to hear more abouth it, maby se some pictures,
you are right, some of us should pick it up, either to drive it, or if it's not as good as it looks, then for parts.

firedome, yes the grill is a bit cheep, but overall I like the front, in the beginning I also liked the 57 better, but I'm not sure anymore.

You can see in the pic of that Dartline that it had the dark painted headlight surrounds, most has faded but you can still see it at the upper part of the headlight "door" where the "eyebrow" protected it. I think all Dartline's had the darker paint whereas earlier versions were painted silver to match the grille. My Windsor "Sweep" version has the dark surrounds also, along with full Spring Special trim.

I like the design of the '58 grille, just wish they had used better materials, they dent and bend very easily!

Hi firedome !

You might be right about the headlight surrounds but, if you look at the spring brochure that I posted, it dosn't mentions anything about it,
so I'm not sure.

Yes the material they used on the grill is easy to dent and bend, I need a new one, my grill is damage from a side impact.

I have an extra grille that is quite decent, it has a few small bends in the little horizontal bars but they could be straightened fairly easily... but shipping it to Denmark might be a problem!

Back in the "old days", I preferred the 57 tail lights to the 58 as well, but over time I have come to
see the 57's as a little too much of a good thing and the 58's as being more tasteful, especially when
lit up. The 57's are just a giant red "rabbit's ear", while the smaller 58 lens fills the fin cavity with a
soft red glow like a halo. I only wish they had not rounded off the sharp top edge of the bezel in 58.
Another nice touch of the 58 is the side profile emphasizes the overswept fin tip even more than the
57.

Maybe it is from my lifetime as a carpenter, but am I the only one who looks at the Dartline sidetrim
and sees two lines (saw cuts) coming from opposite ends and missing each other ???

Hi Doc. !

No you are quite right it looks like a miss, maby the designer was desturbed when he was drawing the line,
and when he came back he was late to the deadline, and starting from the other end, it just had to go wrong.

But just like the taillight, I think it grows on you, I love it, if not for anything else then for being different.

I also prefer the '58 tail-lights, they look way cooler when lit up at night!
And yes the Dartline side trim looks like it was designed by a committee that never talked to each other... but it sure is unique!

Year I have seen it !

This fellow has a s**t load of FL cars fore sale, but his prices is quite high on most of the cars,
I have found a couple that I would like to own.

I keep pictures of all the Dartline cars we find, so I can make a list of all of them,
and put it on here, but I haven't had the time to finish it yet.

Note the license plate. Lest my crappy eyes are deceiving me, that looks to be a "Peace Garden State" plate. North Dakota car now relocated to Texas sounds like a member of the Hernando's Hide-a-way collection. He headed for the drier, salt-free cilmate earlier this year. This car ran around my area a couple of summers ago. Got me in trouble with some friends who were major P.O.'d that I'd gotten mine on the road and hadn't told them! hahaha I wondered if he'd taken it with him or sold it locally before leaving. I won't say I'm happy to see it left, but it'll survive better there - and let mine be more unique here.

Hi Greg !

Good spotted with the license plate, that means tha we now have the pictures of that Nort Dakota car,
and that we now know that it ain't in North Dakota anymore.

Year it is always nice to have something a bit different, thats why I fell for Mopar in the first place,
and why I can't get my self to sell my Dartline, eventhoe the restoration looks like it will take forever
to happen and be way to expensive for me, but I love that car.

Too expensive and taking forever ... it sounds like mine!

All I got done this year was to get a couple more parts I need,
my health is not getting any better, and now it's too cold.

Next year I must get serious about getting back to work!

Yes it was sold to a nice fellow in Sweden, no one in the US would step up, just a lot of BS and hot air.

I will miss it a lot, but found a '58 Olds I like and that needs less work to get on the road as I can't work on them much anymore and I want to be able to enjoy it.

I'll still hang out here at times because I still love FL cars, and if I can afford one someday I'd still love to have a '57 Dodge 4 dr hardtop just like my Grandpa had!

Greetins from Finland!

I am the owner of the "suomi dartline" since 2013 autumn. I bought if from the gentleman who brought it from USA.

Car is in driving condition atm with original paten. 354 Spitfire engine has new bearings, pistons and one cylinder tube, heads are machined with new valves. Transmission has been restored aswell. I also mounted SSBC disc brakes on front axle since original shoe retainers prings were "dead" and couldnt find new ones"

I have been driving with it in the summertime allmost daily since 2014 (not from home to work but on free time :D).

Thanks for great thread to all writers

Here are some more pictures i took with my phone so they are not the best quality... :D

Those wires running on cabin floor are for electric fuelpump and for starter solenoid until i get original ones working.

A 2-dr HT DARTLINE!

It's the first 2-door, that I think we've seen, to date.

There probably were a few convertible models built, too.

Never-say-never!

Cool Petri! The car looks very decent "as is" and could be a fantastic Project for renovation. We have a guy here on the forum who does magic to those original radios - new technology mixed with old appearance!

Hi Dart-Pete !

Very nice pictures, keep them comming, that goes for the rest of you too, lets see some pictures of your projects,
of trips with your Windsor / Windsor Dartline or what ever you drive, parts you have found, or maby want to sell.

To d500neil ! Either you are jokeing, or your memory playes with you, ,
untill now I have registreted 19 Dartline's on this thread, and 9 of them are 2 dr.ht., most of them are showen
early'er in this thread, and I begane by showing Mine.

Regarding a Convertible, no there have never been build a Dartline Convertible, officialy they never build a Convertible
Windsor in 1958, but I think I remember having read somewere, that 3 might have been build for show.

Hope you still have some indiansummer out there, we have had the worst summer since 1925 ( I think it was ), so we have
not been driving our Mopar's much, so it is going to be a long winther.

Hi fellow FL fans !

Well the season is unfortunately over here in Denmark, it has been a rather bad summer, and the number of trips in my Mopar,
have been limited, so I fear that it is going to feel like the winter will be even longer than usual.

I hope that you have had a better season than us, maby some of you are even able to enjoy your Mopar through the winter,
dam'it I am envious.

Let us se some photos of your summer trips, parts or car findings, or what ever you think we will enjoy to se, in the
dark winter hours, when we dream of getting our Mopar's out rolling again.

It was a nicer than average summer here in NY, Aug and Sept and much of October so far practically rain-free!
Unfortunately my '58 Windsor is now in Sweden, and the new owner already had it for sale!
It makes me wish that I hadn't sold it, but I can't work on cars anymore, and I can't afford for someone else to do it for me, so not a lot of choice.

Hopefully our winter won't be as bad as the last 2, but they are always too long... keep warm!!

Hi all !

Once again it is a while since I last was here on the thread, but I have had a lot of thing to fight, and it is taking a lot of
time, and a lot of energy, but I will pop up every now and then, I hope you will do the same.

Hi firedome !, yes it is sad that the Swedish buyer already is selling, I have a feeling that was his plane from the start,
but maby the next buyer will tresure it, if you had kept it, you would just have been sad that you couldn't work on it,
have you at least enjoy'ed your Olds ?.

I'm glade that you had a better summer than us, and I hope too that the winther will not be to hard and long.

Hi RDP ! nice ads you have found on Dartline's, that gives me somthing new to hunt for, I don't remember if
I have the one at top, but I'm pretty sure that I don't have the one at the bottom, so I have to find them.
