Newton, Iowa USA, near Des Moines: The Hot Rod Magazine Power Tour began today at Iowa Speedway in Newton. Mopar Collector's Guide runs a show of its own within this tour, but their editors were involved with other business today. No matter, because this '60 Plymouth wagon is one of the few FL vehicles on display at today's event.

That's a car that "does not exist" - maybe I'm on thin ice here, but Plymouth never did a 4 door hard top, did they? A super nice car.

They did a lot of 4 door hardtops, but I don't recall ever seeing a 4 door hardtop wagon.

Yep, you are right, no Plymouth or Dodge hardtop wagons for '60-61. Must be a Chrysler (or possibly '60 DeSoto) wagon body with Plymouth clip and quarters on it. A lot of work on a wagon!

Actually my mistake, I should have known, and almost went back after hitting the submit button, and deleted my response.

There sure are some gorgeous pictures posted on here, from the last time I was on this site.

The Europeans restore 'our' cars.

We do this, to them (remember the Dak dash, in the 57 CRL?).

Dodge did, in fact, make a hardtop wagon in '60 and '61. It was the top-of-the-line Polara.

The 1961 Polara wagons were all 4dr hardtops.
You beat me with seconds on this one Aaron.

Great picture, it is almost a dead ringer for the 60 Matador wagon our family had when I was a kid. Same color!
Great memories that we still talk about, of the 2 week family vacation back east. Eight of us in that car, kids, parents and grandparents. We always compare it to the Chevy Chase movie, Vacation.

The copper 60 Polara is Bob Howard's old car.

The black one is mine... couldn't find the picture for my last post. The image was taken the day I picked it up just over a month ago. It's dusty and the front clip was off... but it will be back together and on the road later this summer.

Sorry about the misinformation, I forgot about the upscale Dodges. My mistake.

That Polara wagon is stunning! There was a black '60 Phoenix wagon in a junkyard local to me about 2-3 years ago, I think they may have crushed it by now. It had the most amazing red/silver/black interior in it. I think the '60 Dodges have the best interiors of all the FL cars.

Day three of the Power Tour in DuQuoin, Illinois USA: one of Virgil Exner's plucked chicken Plymouths joins the tour. This '62 looks like a Savoy, with the Plymouth script on the door.

On this day, the Hot Rod Power Tour stopped off in Chattanooga, where this '61 Plymouth wagon showed up. I thought that all 1960-64 Mopar wagons had four doors in either hardtop or center post versions, as most of the Big-Three-Plus-AMC were killing off their full-size two-door wagons in the early sixties. Prove me wrong, people!

Next up, the Power Tour stops off in Birmingham before the big finale at the USS Alabama battleship in Mobile. Too bad that I am buried with work at my employer.

Bernie, 1961 was the last year for the 2-door station wagon for Plymouth. A mere 2,464 were produced; of course the sonoramic commando in this one is not original.

She's owned by one Chuck Smith out of Loudon, TN, owner of Chuck's Classic Cars, and she is a fine car.
Thanks for the photos!

A wonderful car you caught. Thank you very much for posting it. The bodywork is done with care and a wonderful paint job done. I like this car.
Happy motoring!

As we were coming home from the hospital this morning where I had a hip replaced Monday we passed a line of street rods/machines heading south out of Chattanooga. Lots of 'em! Now we know where they were headded. Too bad I missed this but the hip came first!

Birmingham today, battleship tomorrow. I recognize Rob Wolf of Mopar Collector's Guide, as one of the gentlemen intrigued with the '60 Plymouth wagon. And, that '67 B-body R/T trailer looks interesting.

Heres pics of a few of the Mopars at the Battleship on the final day of the HotRod PowerTour 2010. We got there about 9am and the awards had been handed out and everyone was heading home . Exiting traffic was so bad , we were still able to see the cars for another 2 hours as they were lined up to head to the house .

The white wagon has a 440 and was getting 8 mpg on the trip , and was trouble free on the road , home was I believe , Indiana .

The under hood shot was from a 66 Charger w/twin turbos .

The 60 Plymouth Belvedere with a toiletseat ,was one I ve seen at Cruisin the Coast several times , he has a stroked 360/408. He s heard of our site but has not yet clicked on .

The wagon is out of Mo. Has a 500 big block in it & was converted to coil spring front to get the T.B.s out of the way for more room undernieth. Talked with him @ a couple of stops.
