Met up with Jay this afternoon at the National Hudson Meet here in Spokane. Looked at the cars for an hour or so,
then walked around the swap meet area looking for who-knows-what and stumbled on to some mirrors that looked
suspiciously like the ones on my 56 Dodge.

I asked Jay if these came off a Hudson .... afterall, we WERE at a Hudson meet and they DID look like Dodge mirrors.
He agreed, but wasn't sure, so I asked the seller what they were off of.

56 Dodge, he said.

Huatchoo want for them?, I asked.

$40 bucks for the pair, his reply.

They looked like new ! I got out my wallet.

Came back up to my place and gave Jay "the tour". Good to meet you Jay.

I'll be back down there to take some pictures. Maybe we can chew the fat some more ?

Great deal on those mirrors, Doc! Most of them I see on eBay go for a lot more and I'm still trying to find an affordable one for the pass, side, that came loose in '85 while I was going to the Car Craft Street Machine Nationals in Illinois and fell off.

If I'm lucky, I might have found the '56 Plymouth project I've been looking for.

If I get this one, I would keep the body very close to original, but install a late model drivetrain and brakes, so I'd like to tap the knowledge of anyone who has already done this conversion. I'm thinking along the lines of a mildly built 318 with an A727, or maybe an A518 transmission, and an 8-3/4" rear with 10" drums, and a disk conversion in front.

If anyone can lead me to a previous thread that might have discussed such a project, I'd be grateful. I'm also open to any and all suggestions.

Hey, how about those 1955 and 56 Imperials, also the 55/56 New Yorkers? The Imps are considered MIlestone cars with those full wheel cutouts and distinctive body lines. They are my 55/56 dream cars. I am still after one, but the prices are out of sight right now. We need a depression or something to drive the prices down. These cars had it all, and they are somehow overlooked way too much. I have two 57 Chrysler two doors, and plan on working on them until a 55 or 56 shows up.

There is a guy here in town with a decent driver 56 Imp 2HT for sale. I saw it last year at a car show that is coming up
again next w/e. It was priced quite reasonably, I thought ..... although I can't remember what the price was now. I can
see if I can locate the car if you like ?

We don't have much of a rust problem out here in the desert and as I recall it was quite solid. I think the tan and white paint
was original.

Brent, it was good to put a face with a name and meet up with you and your family.  It was a good meet, our family's first "national" Hudson meet.  Glad you were able to come down, what three times?  I got to meet up with you two of those visits.  Press (the seller) had a great deal on the mirrors for sure, he's a nice guy and was one who pressed for me to get a directorship on the Western Region Board.  I'm glad I got to see your Desoto convertible, will be a beaut when you get her repaired again, wish I had your shop space!  We had a great time in Spokane and the weather couldn't have been better.  It was so nice to get out of the massive heat advisories in AZ, we may just start looking at rental prices up there. :-)

Thanks again man!
