Does anyone know of or can recommend a place in Maryland (DC metro area) that I can take my car to to correct a leaky transmission?

Good luck on that!

Where are the leaks coming from?

Two shops to STAY AWAY from are Wheaton Plaza Transmissions on Georgia Ave in Wheaton, MD. And stay away from Cottman Transmission in Beltsville, MD on Route 1. This was over 15 years ago now, so they may or may not be in business. When I still had my 58 Belvedere sedan, both of these shops worked on this car, both had the car 5 times each and neither shop ever got it right. Nothing but lies, Wheaton lost some parts & the keys, plus just piss poor work and lots of B.S..
It would take to long to write out all the trouble I had with those knuckle heads at both shops. That was one of the last times I dealt with so called "certified professional mechanics" as I do all work on my new and old vehicles myself.

I eventually stripped that Belvedere when I got my 58 Fury so I never did get that Belvedere trans right. It's sitting in my garage. I eventually had issues with the Torqueflite in my Fury so I decided to rebuild a correct 1958 Torqueflite for it myself. There was a 1960-61 Trans in my car when I got it. So I rebuilt it, had one issue with having the front clutch pack to tight so I ended up pulling the trans out again and fixing that problem. Learn by your mistakes! I got it back in the car and its been fine since. It was driven to Tulsa, OK and back along with at least another 1-2 thousand miles od local driving since then.

I got most of the parts from FATSCO transmission in NJ. Very good company to deal with.

Thanks for the information and warnings!

I found a guy. He fixed the main leak (seal), fixed the leaking brakes, fixed the leaking rear differential, fixed the brake light problem...all for $240. The remaining issue is that there is a cracked casing where the transmission linkage meets the transmission. At least that's what I remember him saying. He couldn't get the part.

Glad to hear you got all that done ecspeciallly for that good price. If you could find exactly what this cracked part is, I may have one for you, as I have quite a few extra tourqueflite transmission parts.

Did you or your mechanic try http://www.fatsco.com/ for that cracked casing part? They had all of the trans. parts I needed when I rebuilt mine. If not like I said I may have it if you find out exactly what it is.
