Expert Posts: 2244 Location: Yorba Linda, Ca | OK Ron, Here's the site. The Lady I talked to was very nice. They have parts for other mopars as well as some other complete cars. I also told the lady about the Forward look and said the car would get a lotta exposure here. http://www.allstuff-dennis.com/ Click on Classic Cars Tab, then scroll down to the 1961 Chrysler New Yorker Convertible; (It's not a 60 Chrysler convertible) Gary Edited by 1959Dodge 2010-12-02 10:18 PM

Expert Posts: 3575 Location: Netherlands | So, looking at that site I understand it's not a '60 NY, but '61. I personally like a '60 convertible better. I saved the pics from the site to post below for everyone to see; (002.jpg) (019.jpg) (018.jpg) (017.jpg) (016.jpg) (015.jpg) (014.jpg) (013.jpg) (012.jpg) (011.jpg) (010.jpg) (008.jpg) (009.jpg) (007.jpg) (006.jpg) (005.jpg) (004.jpg) (003.jpg) (001.jpg) Attachments ---------------- 002.jpg (79KB - 155 downloads) 019.jpg (34KB - 177 downloads) 018.jpg (57KB - 173 downloads) 017.jpg (52KB - 187 downloads) 016.jpg (64KB - 155 downloads) 015.jpg (63KB - 151 downloads) 014.jpg (67KB - 194 downloads) 013.jpg (55KB - 161 downloads) 012.jpg (56KB - 174 downloads) 011.jpg (58KB - 193 downloads) 010.jpg (54KB - 149 downloads) 008.jpg (39KB - 196 downloads) 009.jpg (54KB - 154 downloads) 007.jpg (45KB - 164 downloads) 006.jpg (68KB - 181 downloads) 005.jpg (65KB - 195 downloads) 004.jpg (57KB - 146 downloads) 003.jpg (54KB - 163 downloads) 001.jpg (80KB - 190 downloads)

Expert Posts: 2244 Location: Yorba Linda, Ca | Looks like "most of it is there"? I suspect the top mechanizm is worth something, and the 413 engine etc. If you have questions, post them here, and I can call the lady back and refer the site to her, or I can make a list of your questions, and forward them on to her. You can also send Emails to that Web-site where the car is. 60 and 61 New Yorker Convertibles are rarer than the 300 Convertibles for those years as many of them "donated parts" to 300's and/or were "Converted" to 300's. I have pictures as well as videos of a fully restored black one (1961) if anybody wants to see what a restored one looks like. Gary

Expert Posts: 2244 Location: Yorba Linda, Ca | I will call and ask about the title. The car is about 250 miles (400km) from me , so it would be quite a drive. The closest "Big California City" would be Fresno. Perhaps we have some members in that area? That would be great if you got the car, Joakim" as I know you would "Do it Justice" (Properly restore it). You are welcome to come visit me, and we can take a drive up in my 59 Vert or my 64 to go and see it. I can also take you over and show you Aivar's 61 restored New Yorker convertible, (Black). Expert Posts: 2596 Location: Upplands Väsby, Sweden | Yeas I send a Email to them at "contact". For me looking this NY 61 like my Windsor in same conditions (lots off work) when I bought in 1999. It is a nice modell and looks completed. But rear fenders looks some work with. What you think abouth this car seen from your point of view? and best off all It´s OK from my wife.

Expert Posts: 2244 Location: Yorba Linda, Ca | I'm no expert at car restorations, but looking at pictures (from what I can see) looks like minimal (small) rust compared to other cars we have seen (especially convertibles)--and priced much higher than this one. The Windshield is missing, (Hopefully those are made in Sweden) as they were for my 59 Vert. It also appears that some of the convertible top is missing at the back (Hopefully only the fabric) and not some metal parts. The heater core is obviously bad as that has been bypassed. The side glass appears to be all there and the car does have power windows. Hopefully some of our "Restoration experts" will know more than I just posted and add more or clean up some of my mistakes Gary

Location: Parts Unknown | If I weren't already several cars deep in the restoration process, I'd be all over this one. The 61 NY'er is one of the very best FL cars built for overall design. So it needs work ..... so what ? Try and find another one! These are somewhat easier to find parts for than say, a 57-58, and there are several real experts out there to help in the restoration process. This looks like a great car to me. Oh, yeah .... and it HAS power windows !!!!

Expert 5K+ Posts: 7805 Location: Williams California | My first question would be, "What the heck was done to the left rear quarter panel?" Looks like a large section was cut out, and another piece set inside. Not your typical rust or damage repair. ---John

Elite Veteran Posts: 769 Location: Oley, PA | It does seem like actually fairly solid. I see some rust and some fairly major dentage but no show stoppers. And yeah something really weird went on with those rear quarters. Would like to know the story on that. I'd really want to crawl underneath this car and take a good look as with any convertible. But the spider is scary.

Brent, You'd be all over that deck lid to remove the bird bath, wouldn't you I like the 61 Chryslers a lot as well, but I think the design of the 60 was a little nicer with the integrated tail lights in the fins. As far as the grille / headlight treatment, its a toss-up to me between 60-61.

I like both the 60 and 61 design and both have their strong points. The seller for me is the canted headlights. It is so uniquely "fin era" and Chrysler pulled it off beautifully. I love the 60 tail lights, but from square-on behind they look terrible. The 60 "smiley face" front bumper is wonderful. I like the side trim better on the 61. I think Jeff Carter's 61 NY'er convertible is one of the best looking Exner creations to ever roll off the line. That car is utterly breathtaking in every respect. More amazing, ... it is unrestored !

Exner Expert 19,174 posts. Neil passed away 18 Sep 2015. You will be missed, Neil! Posts: 19146 Location: bishop, ca | This car has, clearly, been hit in the right-rear corner and has had a replacement 1/4-section be welded onto the body. No big deal, in the long run, but, the rt/rr area is not exactly OEM to the car. In fact, there is still residual-resulting impact wrinkling evident on the 1/4 panel, behind the door. There probably was additional collision related damage incurred on the left 1/4 panel. But, at least, the owner didn't try to make a Bondo Sculpture out of the car; he found replacement donor body panels for it, and did a pretty good job of sectioning-in them, too.
