Expert Posts: 3480 Location: Montreal, Canada | This is for sale on a local classified ads site. I figure it must be rare as hell, being that Dodge-Desoto dealerships were a Canada only network. Too bad the neons are gone.... and the guy is asking 1500$! Still, a very nice piece, and I thought I'd share! Extreme Veteran Posts: 452 Location: Southern California | I like the idea of offering $900. Neon letters would probably be around $20 each, glass insulators where the eloectrode holes are, $10 each, two 9000 volt transformers $120 each, plus any labor. Go for it! It's a rare sign.

Location: Parts Unknown | Neon tube bending will run you about $20 a foot these days. This sign will cost about $2500 to restore.

I figure this could be expensive, but not that much!.... I'd rather put such an amount on another project car!

Expert Posts: 3480 Location: Montreal, Canada | lamar - 2010-12-12 3:12 PM Do you have a phone number for the guy? Thanks Sure thing! If you want to have a go at it, this is too expensive for me anyway! The seller's name is Martin Desbiens, and he is located in St-Cyrille-de-Wendover, near Drummondville, an hour east of Montreal. His phone numbers are: 819-470-9710 or 819-397-4291 Here's his ad (in French, of course): http://www.lespac.com/ameublement/arts-antiquites/st-cyrille-de-wen...

I'd rather put such an amount on another project car! ****************************************** This is actually a pretty good price on that sign. However, it appears to me that the enamel coloration is very faded and this would affect desirability. The strong original colors command a premium. There was a similar Hudson dealership sign for sale at the Hudson National meet this last summer. A few small chips to the enamel, but good color. All the neon was broken. $4500 I paid $900 to have the can replaced and all the neon redone for my dealership clock. A friend did it and I got a good price. But it has a LOT of neon for its size ! Double-sided signs cost twice as much to put the glass back into !

Seeing this one, and following Doc's comments, I guess the other one is really faded a lot and that it was the same dark blue originally.

Expert Posts: 3588 Location: Plymouth Spaceport | Has anyone here ever seen an original dealership sign with the Forward Look boomerangs come up for sale? Were there any original Forward Look neon clocks? How about any molded rubber door mats with Forward Look boomerangs?

Were there any original Forward Look neon clocks? How about any molded rubber door mats with Forward Look boomerangs? Have seen two Forward look neon's and both meant to hang in windows. One had "forward look" spelled out in the crotch of the boomerang and the other was just the crossed Boomerangs. have never seen a clock or door mat, yet?

Location: Parts Unknown | My dealership clock is a Glo-Dial and dates to 1948. It has lots of neon, but simply reads "Sound Horn / For Service" around the clock face. It hung over the service door at a/the dealership in Helena, MT, whose name escapes me at the moment. My other clock reads "Colfax Motors / DeSoto Plymouth / Phone 102". This one has the lettering stenciled onto the clock face with a single green neon ring illuminating behind. It is a real early Glo-Dial and dates to 1937-38.
