Member Posts: 10 | Hi I have a 1956 Dodge 2door H.T. I havent done this yet but plan on. I think that the best way to go is contact Olddaddy@rustyhope.com He has you send him your spindles and he redrills them & retreads them. than you buy his kit which is bushings and spacers and backet for disc brakes. than he gives you a list of parts which you can buy at like NAPA. It is suspose to be Cheaper than AAJ or ECI. which you can go to their web site also to deside for yourself which you think is best. Best of Luck Jonathan Buller If you dive in to it right away let me know what you do and how it goes.

The 55-56 Dodge-Plymouth have three bolt spindles, in other words three bolts are used to hold the backing plate, brake anchors and steering arm to the spindle. Very few disc brake conversion systems are compatible. But, the 56 Desoto and Chrysler spindles use four bolts, and the disc conversion systems are more readily available. Here's the novel part, the 56 Chrysler and Desoto spindle assemblies including the supports and kingpins will bolt into a 55-56 Dodge Plymouth at the upper and lower outer pivots at the ends of the control arms. Here's photos of a 56 Chrysler spindle assembly bolted to the ends of the control arms in a 56 Plymouth. Member Posts: 10 | Are you saying that the Chrysler & DeSoto disc brake conversion are more readily available? Rustyhope is the only guy that I have heard of that does these. If there are others I would like to know as I'm going to do both my 56 Dodge and 56 DeSoto.

moparfinman, that's what I'm saying. And the caliper adapter mounting is better done. I think AAJ has the conversion for the Chrysler but not the Dodge because of the spindle bolt differences. The 3-bolt is too weird and very little demand. Edited by rbmain 2011-04-19 9:50 PM

Did the AAJ kit on my '56 Dodge about 5 years ago. He's had the kit for a while.
