Hi All,
A friend of mine bought a '57 Fury this past winter and I'm doing some detailing for him. His dual quad 318 is painted all gold. Is this correct? I've seen another example in one of my Mopar muscle books where the engine is silver and the valve covers and air cleaners are gold. This would make sense since the standard 318s were painted silver.

Yes, it should be silver block/heads/intake and gold valve covers & air cleaners.

Aluminum paint will look better than silver.

Thanks for the replies guys, it made sense that as the Polys went through the paint station, they were all painted silver. The gold valve covers and air cleaners were probably added later in the production line.
Several years ago someone on FL forums recommended Duplicolor high temp DE1615 Aluminum engine enamel and that's what I've been using since 2000.

Tony, The factory paint codes are as follows: The valve covers and air cleaners were painted Golden Lion Gold, Mopar P4529149. The block, heads and brackets were painted Aluminum, Mopar P4529148. The fan was painted black. -Ron

I used POR-15 High Temp engine enamel and it has lasted very well so far.

I can't tell if the right air cleaner has a decal. Should the decal be only on the left a. c.?

No both air cleaners have the yellow and red decal.
