Hi,

I might be interested in attending the Barett Jackson auction in Las Vegas ( http://www.barrett-jackson.com/events/lasvegas/ )
Not to buy cars, but rather to enjoy the atmosphere and the show.

But I'd like to know ...
Is there any interesting vendors outside the auction show ?
Parts, literature, automobilia ?

Thanks.

If you are looking for the CIRCUS aspect of the car hobby, a B-J auction is the place to be. All they need is barkers on the midway to bring you in to the side shows of many major vendors of everything from soup to nuts and oh yeah, some car parts and services too. There typically is so much outside and inside that you might not have time to watch any of the auction. Nowhere is this more true than the crown jewel of the collector car auction craft, B-J Scottsdale. Any other venue is just a junior Scottsdale as Craig J. has franchised the action, I mean auction, so that he can make even more money selling vendor spots, TV contracts and ... what was it, oh yeah, offer cars for sale too. I've been to lots of auctions including several B-Js years ago. Personally, I like CARS, not CIRCUSes.

I've never been to a car auction, let alone a B-J auction in the USA ...
But from a few videos I've seen, I agree that it seems indeed to be a circus more than a car show.

As I'm looking for something more like a swap meet (I thought it could be both at the same time ... Maybe for Scottsdale or elsewhere, but I doubt it for that particular venue in Las Vegas), I guess it is not the place for me. Furthermore, it would imply flying from San Francisco to Las Vegas just for one day ... I think I won't bother then.

Thanks for your input.

If you are in Vegas go to the imperial palace car museum.

They have a really nice 60 fury convertible 383 cross ram there

Well, I changed my plans, since going to Vegas would have been too much of a detour.
I will stick to San Francisco, Sacramento and perhaps Reno.

Vincent, how long are you going!

I just drove from Denver to San francisco so I know some cool things for you. Actually waiting for my flight right now at the San Francisco airport.
You can also take my pics and show everybody where you have been

Vincent/Mat---I could join you guys in Vegas, too (brace yourselves!).

The B-J experience is MUCH more than having your ear drums be blown-out by the auctioneers.

Lotsa vendors and cars to open-doors/sit-in and bull-sh!t about, while the auctions are blaring on the loudspeakers,
all over the place.

It's a fun circus, and, the fact that Vegas' entertainments are close at hand is a real 'plus'.

Just let me know when/where & I'll see if reservations are available anywhere close to the venue.

Ah, Sh!t; some family members (from OH) are due to arrive (sometime) around the last week of Sept, and, our
big-deal car show/50's dance is on 10/1, but that's OK; date-wize.

I'll try to find out when The Tribe is arriving (in Reno)....

Neil,

I abandoned the idea of going to Vegas on Friday 9/23, because it would have been too much of a trip right after my 11 hours flight from Paris.
Nonetheless, we can try to meet ... What do you say ?

My plans are not set yet, but I'll certainly be around Sacramento and Reno during that weekend.

If you're going to be at Reno, we possibly can get together there and/or you could cruise down good ol' #395, to Bishop,
enroute to/from SoCal.

Neil,

Bishop is waaaay out of my range during that weekend (at least a 6 hours drive from Sacramento), as I plan to stay mostly in northern California.
Therefore, we could try to meet in Reno. I'll probably be there on Friday 9/23.
