Hey, I'm looking at a couple of cars that both needs some rust repairs made. Is there anyone making lower body repair panels? Trunk and floor repair panels? Rockers?

b5rt, Take a look in past posts I made in body section, also in the Pacific North west region. I made all my own panels and some mounts. The pics will give you a good idea of whats involved. Also look at what some of the other guys are doing. Jerry

Jerry, I've been watching your progress as well as Lisa's DeSoto, John's Fury, the Adventurer convert in Italy and others. I've come across a couple of cars that interst me but of course they all have some rust issues. Remember seeing a link for Black Car that makes some patch type panels for certain cars, but not all that I'm checking out. Didn't know if maybe there's a vendor out there that I'm missing.
One owner of a rusty Firedome on craigslist told me "yeah they make floor and trunk panels, they're on ebay all the time". I haven't seen any yet.

John @ Big M would be your best source for parts that fit. I have seen ads for C2C Fabrication (I think) on ebay offering various floor panels, trunk extensions and trunk floors. They also advertise rockers but mostly for '57-59 I think. There is also a place in Ohio (American Muscle??) that I am going to purchase outer rockers from when I am ready. From what I have read, the majority of these aftermarket panels need "massaging" to make them fit properly. I've also read that some of the outer rockers were more like covers than true structural replacements. All of my patch panels to this point were made by me from 18gauge metal. I did not have access to a bead roller until just a short time ago...If you need underfloor seat supports, Alan Ralston is manufacturing those. I believe he is listed on the National Desoto Club site. Good luck!!

Classic 2 Current Fabrication (C2C) is down in the Detroit area in Michigan--Redford actually. They post quite a bit of stuff on ebay--some of which seems to have a lower BIN price than they sell on their site-anyway they will allow pickup of stuff you buy on ebay so always better so check their site and ebay if your going to buy something from them.

Oh and there is ALOT more stuff on their site than what they put on ebay---sometimes can be hard to find as they list stuff under "full size cars" when there are numerous apps that are the same---IE cars that share sheetmetal--so you might not see a trunk for your Belvedere or whatever but they do carry one

Great info!!! Not having a bead roller and getting curved panels right just makes it extra challenging. Having a panel that's at the very least, close, would sure help.

I had local fab shop form all my lower rockers and inner rockers and whatever other panels I needed. I just took him a sample and measurements. All 18 ga. The guy did a great job and I only have about $200 invested in all the sheet metal involved in replacing rockers and floor, both sides. Ya gotta weld in place anyway, so save yourself a lot of aggravation and get it right the first time, and be done with it. Just my 2 cents worth, it worked for me !! Jerry

Alan Ralston is producing the underfloor seat reinforcement and is also produciing the two braces that go from the seat reinforcement piece to the inner rockers. They look very well made, so I will be visiting him soon (happens to live in the same area).

Oops, was trying to post pics of Alan Ranston's nice work of which I will avail myself shortly. Apparently resolution of the parts pictures is too much for the forum, so when I have some time later I will re-size them and try again...

Just checked C2C and they have a pretty large assortment of panels, including ones I am interested in. And decent prices too, especially if they fit!

Further searching and I've read some negative reviews on C2C. Rcar stuff looks good and with most having decent prices but a couple things are very pricey.

Here are pics of the pieces I got from Alan Ralston last weekend. They are very well done parts. FAIK they should fit most 57-59 Mopars although some people say floor pans are different if you have a power seat. Went to Alan's shop in person and spent several hours there (and he gave me an awesome deal on some used 57 Dodge parts he had no need of....). Great guy and very particular. These are the left and right side underfloor braces and the inner rocker braces. All appear to be of original thickness as the seat reinforcements are of a heavy gauge like originals.

These floor parts look really good !! That extra stiffener running down the middle will add a lot of strength to this support. If they are made of 18 ga or heavier, they get my vote!! If I remember correctly, my Fab guy made those 4 short connector supports from 16 ga. and that worked out well. Also notice the left and right to those seat supports. Jerry

As for the C2C stuff, I was on a budget and I don't care if the underside of my car is 100% perfect. I did floors and inner rockers with their stuff. It required some modification, but for the money I thought I got decent stuff.

This is an old thread. Alan passed several years ago.

All repro panels currently available in the US are cheap junk. The Swedes are making some quality panels. But the best bet is to cut metal from original cars.

Bob from R/Car could "still" be making the floor pans...

I need to find his number, he tried to sell his business a few years ago and I got a full set off him on ebay.

they worked out well and was nice and thick.

You can easily make C2C copies.

I do use C2C power steering access panels.

Bobs phone was (770) 334-8179

Call him during the day when holidays are over.

His stuff isnt perfect but its the best out there for floor panels. They do require tweaking but he sold me all 4 for 475$ shipped. They are thick.

His ebay id is grandpagarage50
