Can anyone tell me if the '57 DeSoto Hemi (S-25/S-26) water pump interchanges with any other engine and/or year? Specificlly, will it interchange with the '55 DeSoto Hemi?...

The block is the same casting. I would think the WP would remain interchangeable. Not near my parts book now, or I'd look it up.

Tony....

The water pump for a 55/56 DeSoto is PN 1653423. The 57 is unique with a PN of 1752218.
I think the difference is the shaft as the repair kit for 56 and 57 is the same. The 55 is different due to the bearing, if I remember.

Also, note that the 57 Adventurer, like the S25/26 cousins, has a different timing cover due to the water inlet now being cast into the cover, and relocated lower to make room for the divorced PS pump. So the whole front dress moves forward about an inch.

Toney My recent research shows: 52-56 Desoto V8 waterpump interchange, but nothing later. I need one for a 56 firedome 330, and i'm having trouble finding one. The bearing is good but the seal leaks. I am looking for a source to have mine rebuilt. Good Luck!......over.......

I have the same problem as most S25/S26 Owner. In case the pump leaks or is noisy they find out that the pump is unique
Therefore I am looking for an interchance possibility, too.
There are many similar pumps on the market but nowhere are dimensions avialable.

So chevy, ford, mopar owner - Take a quick look at the cellar if your spare parts include a similar pump, and check the major dimensions, such as bolt circle and distance from sealing surface to shaft.

Just a note for you -- if you see a notation that Collectors in Oroville has "22" -- that is actually their code -- that they know of someone who has it -- they don't have it -- they have very little --
they are an "outsourcer" -- trying to sell other peoples' merchandise -- and have you noticed "their" price.... on ANYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If rape were legal -- they still wouldn't qualify....
Want to be smart -- Ignore them -- we all do.................

I am in the same boat , as per my discussion 5 lines down , and I just ordered the rebuild kit from Collectors Auto Supply for $80. The price of a pump or rebuild yours is $250. I will let you all know of the outcome.

Generic seals of the right size would be E-Z to get , but I knocked my old one apart and new seals alone would not fix it --- the shaft was corroded.

I have a case of #2084-228 water pump repair kits. They are NOS
You guys will have to do your own research on weather any of the parts will fit your applications.
I'll dig one out and take pictures and post up on the for sale section.

Today I found a source for for water pump seal.
Does anybody know which dimension had the original seal. 5/8 is the shaft diameter...but the rest.

Dave, maybe you could tell us the size for later times.

Compare this screenshot with picture 9672
