Expert Posts: 3225 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Location: Blythewood, SC | Just suppose that Chrysler Corp took the principle behind their first specific market car a little further. What if the Dodge La Femme had a companion car. Something for the male market. I don't think the "Le Him" name fits, but whatever. What would a target market male car look like? What accessories would it have? Assume that the base car is a regular production model just like the La Femme was, and add unique options. Don't jump to a non-available engine package. The La Femme had a standard drivetrain, so stick with the original formula. Pick a year, a brand and a body style and run with it. It could be on any FL car, any year.

Extreme Veteran Posts: 446 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Location: Madison, Wisconsin | Interesting thought Brian. I wonder if there was already 'sort of' a male version of the le femme... The golden lancer. Or was that more of a spring special? There was also the very masculine 'Texan'. All made on the 1956 Dodge model. Also the D500 could be considered very powerful and masculine. Lots of variation on the 56 Dodge model. Was there as much variation on other years and models of forward look models?

But a good idea nonetheless, especially when that "yap" sounds like: "I think we should sell this car and get a minivan" "I don't like your friends", or Just about anything that leads off with "I've been thinking ..... "

Expert Posts: 3158 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | The Fury was marketed towards men,Chrysler even used the line "for the man who loves cars". I also agree that the Texan is a tough sounding car, they should have hired James Arness to sell it.

I suggested they market two different iPads specifically to working women. A Mini-Pad, for days when her output was light, and a Maxi-Pad for days when she her work flow was 'wide open'. I think death is the only reason he didn't call me back, so I forgive him.

Extreme Veteran Posts: 588 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Location: Ponder, TX | As I recall, Fury, 300, D-500 and Adventurer were all marketed toward male customers. As a testosterone laden teen when they were introduced, I lusted for all of them. As a matter of fact, I still do and if I pick the right lottery numbers, I will own pristine versions of all of them from '56, '57, and '58. I liked the colors of the La Femme and if they had dispensed with the name and accessories, and put crossed flags on the trunk, it would probably be the color choice to fill my collection.

The majority of the ad's were definetly aimed at men. Men made most of the big decisions back then and earned the money. I think one of the reasons the LeFemme failed is because the vast majority of women dont really care too much about cars..none of the ones I've ever known have. P.S. I would love to have all three Fury models as well as a 1957 Adventurer too. So, it appears either a few go-fast girls or hotrod sales managers ordered these up with the racers on the "ladies model".

Extreme Veteran Posts: 339 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Location: Wichita, Kansas | My opinion is the 'man's' car equivalent of the LaFemme was the 300. Largest motors, multi-carb, lots of power, aggressive and uncluttered styling. What car looks more like it wants to absolutely eat you up and spit you out than a 57-58 300? I may be a little biased, but that is exactly what drew me to the Cs and Ds in the first place.
