My dad took these pictures back in the day of his friend Hank's chopped plymouths.

Looks fantastic. Even more so that it was done back then. A+

Interesting that the builder of the 57 chose to "correct" the sagged lower piece of stainless
quarter trim .... making it go straight. Never have understood what Ex was thinking, letting
that bottom piece droop like that.

While I would not change the tail lights - I have a thing for stock lights - I think they are pretty
cool overall.

I never understood why they made the trim flow downward like that either, but in 1958 Plymouth got everything right.

I've often wondered how they deal with the curved windshield on these chopped cars. And is it possible to use the side windows in stock form or do they need modified.

I'd have to lose the fender skirts. Why cover up a good thing?

In old conversations here, fender skirt fan numero uno Sid put forth the opinion that
fender skirts make the cars look just that much more sleek.

While I am inclined to disagree with Sid on this point, I believe he pegged it for those
who do like them. And for customizers of the late 50's and early 60's, this point of view
seems to have been very popular.

I personally like the skirts as well

I think sleekness is correct as well as a certain elegance.

How cool they would be on one thats tubbed?

That blue plymouth with the butchered aero wheel looked great with the skirts I think

The back window on the 57 is pretty interesting. Is that from a 60-61 sky-hi roof I wonder...

can't remember using the word sleek but skirts, imo, make the body look heavier, longer and lower. i like the contrast of heavy/big appearing bodys and light airy rooflines which is typical 50s. but the 57/58 plymouth skirts are not very well designed, the lower edge always seems to have the wrong slant. i kinda like these cars (especially the one with the 60/61 skyhigh rear window/skirts!) but they are chopped like most a bit too radical.

The red Plymouth pictures are before and during pictures - notice the first one with the low back glass and then the second photo with the roof cut up for to insert a high back glass. Both cars looks like someone stepped on them, just my 5 cents
