Anyone know if a super stock b body spring will work in a '58 plymouth?
Or should i just take them to a local spring shop, and have a new set made?
Car sits really nice, but i put some weight in her ( she is a wagon after all) and it's banging and scrapping.

The springs have the same 20" front by 35" rear segments and the same width so they will fit but the weight rating might be off.

Eric; just score a set of another station wagon leaf spring assemblies---they're abundant---from Big M or from a 'nationwide'
salvage company.

You can mix & match their shortest (strongest) leafs to your car very easily; your car's longest leaf is the only critical one, as
far as a correct fitting to the spring hangers and shackles, and those wagon leafs might be an initial bolt-on comparison deal
to your car's leaf springs; that protocol would appear to be a good starting point.

If you love the operation of the other leaf assemblies, all you'd have to do is clean/paint them and enjoy your car as-is.

My car has the two strongest (shortest) leafs off of a 62 Chrysler wagon installed in it, and those two leafs make the car very
stiff, and even, raised the ride height by about 1/2".

Your results may vary (as they say).

I'm pointing toward the bottom full-leaf (OEM is 1/2-leaf, ending underneath the middle of the axle housing)
and you can see how the next-shortest leaf (from the wagon) is thicker than the next three (OEM) leafs.

So, Horrie's got 5-full leafs on him (OEM is, again: 4 1/2 leafs) with the strongest two off of a 62 CHRY
wagon.

[That's also one of his 2 1/4" aluminized pipes smilin at ya, there].

Not to run away from Eric's question however, besides Kanter, does anyone know of a company to make my new 6 Leaf Fury Spring's although I want them looking correct. Must look original. Anyone know??

Thanks,
Joe

Just FYI here, but you might not wanna mess around with any laf spring that's 50 plus years old if you are planning on romping on your car. if you just wanna drive it, then ok...

Yes I agree with Dukeboy. I've rebuilt and re-arced old springs with disappointing results.
I bought a set of springs from Eaton Detroit. Good springs but somewhat $$$
A less expensive alternative is Espo Springs and Things in Pennsylvania. They were much less expensive and I think the quality was comparable.
Both companies have all the factory specs for our Finned Cars.

Jerry' pretty sure they were on the Evilpay; these guys are rubber, but 'asbestos'-type interliners are also available.

Joe, et al, I wouldn't worry about having any OEM springs break or fail on you.

If you are not running a 440, or running from the cops, etc., or for Pink slips, any good condition OEM leaf springs should work fine, for you.

As I mentioned, above, any dry-Western olde car salvage yard should have station wagon leaf springs available---they are 5 1/2 leaf or 6-full leaf assemblies and you can mix/match them to your desire and needs fairly easily, and they will look to be 100% correct items for your car, and they will come with interliners and clamps, too.

And, anybody "worrying" about mechanical failures on our cars really shouldn't be DRIVING our cars, at all, because
any part on them can fail at ANY time......Happy early Halloween!

An once of prevention ........I like SAFE suspension and brakes. Go for the later leaf springs, your car will thank you, and so will the rest of the drivers on the road.

I never understand why when it comes to the important and safe stuff people want to cut corners. I know thats what I want to do is restore my car leave some old busted leaf spring contraption of mixed bag springs to save $300.00.

Any good spring shop can make them and add what you want or..... get another busted set from a junkyard that you have know idea what they have been thru load the family and go for a ride and hope they dont break!!

One can only hope that a certain Dodge will be sold at a estate auction some day and a 18 year old kid will wedge a 440 in it with a dana 60 and for the love of God new springs
