| Hello all,
I haven't posted in a long time but I trust everyone is fine and had a great 4th of July, God bless America. I pulled out my Dad's 57' Belvedere sport sedan a couple of days ago from the garage. It had been sitting for a few years with only the occasional start ups and gear shifting to keep things lubricated. When I backed it out of the garage I noticed coolant leaking from the back of the engine. I checked the hoses at the firewall but that wasn't it but I did track it down to two small vent looking oval holes on the firewall below the bolted on cover for what I assume is the blower fan (I'm sorry I do not know the technical name). I did not try to remove the cover yet but would I be correct to assume that this leak may be caused by a leaking heater core and if it is does anyone know where I could get one for a reasonable price? I will be attending Chyslers at Carlisle on Saturday if that helps.
Thanks in advance for any advice. Mario.

Other than a used one from a salvage yard or one of the other FL members, I do not believe that anyone sells "new" ones.
However, any good radiator shop should be able to recore a heater just like a radiator. I think 4Seasons stocks cores in the correct size. |

Location: Connecticut | As Desotohead indicated, it's most likely the heater core. It's easy to access by removing the fiberglass housing and then separating the core from the housing. Unless the core is completely shot, you can have a radiator shop solder it up. When mine sprung a leak, the shop repaired it for $30. In the mean time, you can re-route the hoses to bypass the heater core. I doubt you'll be needing it this weekend !

| Thanks for the good advice guys. I will probably do what you said Ron until I can get it repaired properly. Keep on motoring, Mario. |
