On Sunday, some friends and I went to the BSAAC Car Show in Dedham, MA. Not sure what that stands for... Bay State Antique Car Club (?). Anyway, it was not like the Carlisle Chrysler Nationals coming up, but there were over a thousand cars there, and some notable Forward Lookers. And, they had tasty lemonade. The white 300 G convertible was a true survivor with 8,500 on the clock and original paint. Not sure what was under the hood in the yellow Fury. It had a floor shifter. There were mostly 4 doors or converts there. Very few of my favorites-- 2 doors with roofs on them.

Thanks for posting these, JT ! I was going to post mine, but you've pretty much covered it.

The yellow 57 'Fury' is actually a Belvedere with a 56 Chrysler hemi under the hood.

The 60 300F is Andy Bernbaum's car.

My personal favorite was the pink 56 Imperial. This is an amazing restoration. I hope the owner walked away with a trophy. Car deserved it.

Note single headlights on the 57 Fireflite. Dual headlights were still illegal in Mass. when this car was sold (late '56).

There was a tri-tone 56 Dodge Custom Royal D-500 in yellow-black-white. Another nice car, Also an all black 56 NY'er.

Ron

Hey Ron, next time let's meet up. I'm taking my Firesweep to the "Chrome and Fins" show in September. I've seen Andy's car at the Lars Anderson as well. It's nice. That pink Imperial was beautiful. My fan fave of the day was the G survivor. Mass people can be ma**holes, but the owner (Neil maybe?) was awesome and let me fawn over it. The owner of the faux Fury was super nice, as well. The upholstery in that car was creative and slick. On that DeS, it gets around. Someone posted a pic of it in Maine recently. My '57 Firesweep has single headlights, too. Weird question-- the Firesweep jet intake bumper looks different that the ones on sr. models. That can't be true, can it? Mine is more oval and less mushed looking. Maybe my imagination.

Sounds like a plan. I may be up for Chrome and Fins. I have to check my schedule.

The G convert is owned by John Nowasacki. He's a great guy to talk to.

The Firesweep was built on a Dodge chassis. The 'sweep front end is somewhat different than the senior models, which may account for the different bumper.

Indeed. Not sure if it's actually different, or in my mind. Yeah John nickname "Neil" is awesome. I almost bought a 62 from him once. I didn't know there were ANY FL folks around. Did you have a car at the show?

Yeah, there are lots of FL folks in Mass. They just don't take their cars out much.

I had my 70 Cutlass conv. over in the Oldsmobile section. I thought I scored a nice, shady location when I got there.  When I got back to my car a few hours later, things had changed.

The '57 Fireflite sedan was built on October 18, 1956, and is one of the earliest cars in my database.

Just for interest's sake (as Ed knows already), my Firesweep has the single headlamps and was built in Detroit, early May 1957. (I don't know which state it first went to when it was new from the factory.)

Thanks for the pic's, Jon...very nice cars, and great to see such a nice representation of FL cars in one spot.

I seem to remember that all 57 Firesweeps were built with single headlights. It's just the senior models that were built with duals after Dec '56 or thereabouts.

My '57 Firesweep has the singles. Side note-- although I don't think the Firesweep was really designed as a whole (Dodge and DeSoto hybrid) I think the Dodge fenders look better with the chrome jet intake bumper then the DeSoto/Chrysler fenders do. I think it's one of the finest looking of the FL cars. But, I'm partial. Here we have it de-trimmed, as the chrome is out for a redo. It looks kind of tough without the flashy eyebrows.

Yes, all 1957 Firesweeps had the single headlights.

The quad headlights only came available for the Sweep for the 58 model year.

Note in JT's photo above the indent in the bumper to allow clearance for that big
headlight. People occasionally ask about the differences between the parts on the
Sweeps vs. the senior cars. Although the bumper looks essentially the same, it
exhibits a different part number and the senior cars did not get this bumper with
the indent. Note the eyebrow is also cut away in the fender. I don't think the stock
Dodge fender had this.
