Expert Posts: 1488 Location: Florida | Looks like it started out life as a Saratoga, with manual brakes and no radio. Odd about the 2-BBL carb, though. I see the dealer-installed brake booster, and of course, the radio 'delete' plate I searched for for years (and found) for my '58 D coupe ordered without a radio. Expert 5K+ Posts: 8443 Location: Perth Australia | Since discovering the forward look and getting caught up in it, I have seen a few of these limo's and I would really like one. My father in law has 2 limo's now (both late model fords), and it would be cool for him to see one in the flesh. I have no idea what I would do with one though I like to have unique cars and one of those things would sure qualify for being that.

Location: Parts Unknown | A car like this would require a rather "dedicated" owner. If a normal FL car takes a 20' garage space at a bare minimum, this car would require considerably more. I am trying to imagine the special handling this beast would take in jacking up for work. How many driveline supports ? Parallel parking would be a breeze.

"OK, let's see you parallel park your car". The door gaps (if not the front bumper) are actually fairly normal, for OEM contemporary cars in the 50's/60's.

Elite Veteran Posts: 610 Location: Wilmington, Delaware, USA | I would love to own this beast and beauty. My family of six would get good use out of it. No more complaining from the kids about someone kicking their feet or taking their stuff while in the car. Only problem is this think would take up my entire driveway than who do you sell it to once you're done with it?

Elite Veteran Posts: 716 | Wow! You go Mike! Everybody can have an awful lot of fun with a car like that. I'd rent it (with me driving) as a novelty limo, party bus, veterans' transport, and so on and so on. I'd give it to my kids on their 16th birthday....as a joke, with their real car parked behind it. Can't wait for the photos. Cool! (Gosh, hope it does not have to be registered as a commercial vehicle.)

Expert Posts: 1886 | I've had the car about a week now. I drove it around most of the day today. It creeks and makes old man noises, but actually drives great. Fires right up, lights work and blinkers work. The middle 4 doors appear to be hand made. There is a fair amount of rush hiding under the paint, but nothing severe. This may become a rolling restoration. We'll do the drive line first. We're going to put a 5.7 hemi in it. It needs the power to motor around. I haven't checked the gear, but it wouldn't surprise it if it was a 3.55. The car gets an insane amount of attention, that's for sure. The doors don't line up that well. The paint/body work will be a big undertaking. The question is, what color to paint it. It's 24' 2" long. There was a trunk full of extra's that we haven't gone through yet. Just going to enjoy it a bit before doing anything too crazy. Anybody know if a 300D front clip would fit?

Expert Posts: 2519 Location: central Illinois | Yeah, in the pics you can see some panel gapping around the doors. Probably where those "old man noises" are coming from? I'd be intersted in seeing some pics of those doors and how you think they were made. And I'm always curious about the wheelbases of these cars if you get a chance to measure it up. It looks like the glass is tinted? You guys got plans on A/C-ing this beast?

Location: The Mile High City | A 300 C or D front clip should fit just fine! So it was all black when new AAA? I assume MDL code 533 is a Chrysler Saratoga four-door sedan? Congratulations, Mike! It's a dandy. Edited by Lancer Mike 2012-09-24 10:21 PM

Expert Posts: 1886 | It is a 200" wheel base. It has 66k miles on it. The doors are an odd length, will be interesting to see them when blasted down. Not sure on the AC, might get a dual unit and put it in there. Not really sure what to do lol.

TRM is 'special order' code "888" ; I guess so! That 888 will not be specifically defined on the IBM card, but, we can guess what it might mean. Edited by d500neil 2012-09-25 3:06 AM

Expert Posts: 1886 | Yes, the price came down some. It was a car auction, so was a bit of a pain going through paperwork, but we got it worked out. Have the transmission out now getting rebuilt so we can just drive it around.
