Expert Posts: 2996 Location: Sept. 1958 | Well boys and girls....this 1958 Dodge Custom Royal Lancer Convertible is for sale. Absolutely beautiful in every way and any angle. The restoration was just completed, the seller is the same person I bought my 58 Dodge Convertible from. Location: The Mile High City | Wow, Matt! That is fantastic! A Super D-500 Regal convertible tribute - it just doesn't get much better than that. What venue is the owner using to sell the car? What are they asking for this tip-top dandy?

Location: The Mile High City | So if I had an unlimited cash supply, I would buy it, shave it down, put the Regal trim on, and repaint black and copper. The mere fact that I would even think of such a thing is probably a contributing factor to why I do not have an unlimited cash supply!

Expert Posts: 1295 Location: Nasco , SWEDEN | Stunning car, i love when people put together cars like they had done if they got a chance to order one "new". But for 275k you could a least expect original exhaust tips! probably the nicest interior made for a Dodge car. personally i´ve ordered a Tan convertible top for that x-tra pebblebeach look! p.s 10 minutes a pint of black enamel and a brusch would make the inside of the trunk lid look even better...............

| ||
Location: The Mile High City | Lots of interesting little "personal" touches on this car like the De Soto gas and brake pedals. If it were to sell for $275,000, it would be the most expensive 1958 Dodge ever - as far as I know. their prices are sky high, but it appears they have sold a few. Board Moderator & Exner Expert 10K+ Posts: 13049 Location: Southern Sweden - Sturkö island | There's no fuzzy dices nor any woman shoes on the dash, neither any flower vases - practically uninteresting for all Swedes - that car must be sold to FinLand instead. Joke aside, very nice car - the convertible deck lid hinges leaves very much to wish fore, as we all know................ Edited by wizard 2014-01-17 6:11 AM

Location: The Mile High City | Man, I haven't thought about Hernando's in a while. He dropped the price down to $260,000 - so it looks like he's getting serious I checked out the website again. I am still shocked at the prices! He must be from the "don't leave any money on the table" train of thought. Even a 50% off sale would be very expensive. I can't imagine negotiating with them.

The car did not sell with a high bid of $170,000. The seller did sell his 1957 Desoto Adventurer Convertible for $220,000 though.

Location: Parts Unknown | Overall, I am not crazy about this car. Especially for that kind of money. The dual fours fill me with the urge to defecate, and set the tone in my head that this is just another overdone flipper mobile to work the Barrett-Jackson crowd with. I wonder what colors it started out with ?

Exner Expert 19,174 posts. Neil passed away 18 Sep 2015. You will be missed, Neil! Posts: 19146 Location: bishop, ca | Well, the car is made to look like a Regal Lancer convertible. Makes one wonder what a prospective buyer would believe, or be told about the car. If you like it, as being a glitzy hot rod/Kustom, that's one thing; good luck with that investment. But, it is no 'investment' as being any sort of legitimately built corporate car. ...Wasn't this thing's P/T plate posted, on another thread? May be thinking about that other 58 Coro/CRL red/white vert that's been 4-sale-4-ever, too. Edited by d500neil 2014-03-09 4:07 PM

So all those bigger drum brakes, different distributors, upgraded exhaust and such!

Location: The Mile High City | I have seen the cowl tag for the Coronet Super D500, but never seen a tag for this car. $170,000 is a very impressive bid - if there was a hint of profit, Hernando should have sold!

Expert Posts: 3967 Location: DFW, TX | Gorgeous Dodge. But at a price point in the low-six-figure range, a person in the market for a top-shelf, high-prestige finned Mopar has.............. options. I have seen some eye-searing beautiful cars come out of that garage, with price tags to match.

Location: The Mile High City | My understanding is that white is the correct color for the mechanism regardless of top colors. That said, each restorer could do as they see fit. I don't think the white mechanism looks bad as is.

Posts: 19146 Location: bishop, ca | No; I've got 'lots' of OEM photos confirming that (even blue-; haven't got a pic of a green top, yet) the top bows were painted to match the top color (another way to check out a clone-car, etc). And, the boot color matches the interior, NOT the top, or the main-body color.
