New User Posts: 2 | There was some discussion about 1959 DeSoto Seville here in FWDLK forums some time ago. My husband bought a '59 DeSoto Firesweep Seville project and he's now working on it. While surfing the net I found a thread in DeSoto Club forums where a user named tunicejustice was asking about the interior paint color for his '59 Seville and didn't get the answer. I can't register to the DeSoto Club forum since I'm not a member of the club so I hope he searches here for the answer, too. Seville was a 1959 Spring special model which included Nassau Plaid upholstery, padded dash, special steering wheel, Seville nameplates, and color sweep moulding (this info I found from Dave Duricy's respond here in FWDLK). Here's an ad: http://farm7.staticflickr.com/6203/6067344554_e0a75938fa_o.jpg The 1959 DeSoto Spring color Bradenton Blue (Ditzler S-8686 / 4508 / DQE-12110-DAL) can be found in 1960 paint chart, see the chart here in autocolorlibrary.com: http://www.tcpglobal.com/autocolorlibrary/chips/1960-desoto-pg01.jp... Seville models were painted with two-tone combinations of Pearl White (X) and Bradenton Blue (Q), the body tag's code determines which part (roof, body and side sweep) is which color, f.ex. XQX has white roof and sweep, and blue body. Interior colors were a little harder to find but with enough paint charts on hand I found it. In 1959 Ditzler Color chart page 3: http://www.tcpglobal.com/aclchip.aspx?image=1959-desoto-pg01.jpg There is a color named Lake Blue Poly with number 11812, but there is no color chip by that name in the 1959 color chart. But by the number there is, it is only named Glacier Blue Poly. We took the chip to our car and it matches the dash colour. Actually, to be honest, the Heather Blue (DQE-11931-DAL) seems closer, but it has not been specified as interior color in the chart, whereas in DuPont 1959 chart there is two colors specified as interior colors: Pearl White and Glacier Blue Metallic. We also found the original Nassau Plaid upholstery fabic from SMS Auto Fabrics. Now we are trying to find out the original whiteish color of the seat vinyl, and the strip that goes across the seats and door panels. Anyway, the car has a very weird color combination, since the upholstery and carpet seems to be rather turqouise, and the outside of the car and dash are more lilac blue. Maybe the DeSoto factory found some cheap upholstery material and sold it out by inventing the "spring special" ;-)

Extreme Veteran Posts: 384 Location: Hershey PA | You are correct in noting the Nassau Plaid has a turquoise tint to it while the Bradenton Blue is lilac like. The Nassau Plaid was an optional interior choice right from day 1 and was offered in both the Firedome and Firesweep series. With the bold strip across it, probably not many people bought it so the factory had a lot left over and they made it part of the Seville Spring Special If possible, please provide the information on your data plate. Top line should look like 0421 432 M431 10xxxx 367 QWQ 367 is the code for the Nassau Plaid interior

New User Posts: 2 | After some reconcidering we came to the conclusion that the right paint colour for the dash is indeed Heather Blue. So the color chart specifications for the 1959 interior colors do not match with these "Spring Specials". I think the reason for it is that also the special Bradenton Blue colour is only in 1960 color charts. The interior vinyl seems to be pearly, iridescent white. We must ask for it from SMS, too. The car is now being stripped off and going to sandblast, but we needed to order the dash cover and that's why we had to find out the dash color. The cover comes from RD Autoline, they make the vinyl dash covers: http://www.autoline.se/ VIN: M414101055 Body plate: SCHED 0511 NO 4005 MODEL MS1L BT 412 PT XQX TR 367

Expert Posts: 1506 Location: Colo Spgs | Tuire In November of 1998 we purchased an 1947 De Soto Custom and soon afterwards learned about The National De Soto Club's Site. On The Left of the screen is an place to "Join The Site". Also on The Left is Resources. For every year of De Soto they have an "Tech Advisor" who will help any person that contacts them ( one does not even need To Log On to obtain their contact information ). In 2001 my interest was also to include an 1956 De Soto. This is when I found this site too. As on every site there is some who are "me thinks" , some are "I know" and some are ... well you know. The lack of an instand answer/ reply in many times is because the best information takes a moment to compile. Or the persons who have the most correct answer may have an regular life. For Tunice's first reply it took one calender day for the first reply and four others replied in trying to help him aqiure what he wanted to know ( learn ). From half an decade earlier The Spring Special has been marketed with always multible lite colored tones for the Exterior. It is an Trim Option, not an Performance Option.
