Neat pictures - I wonder where this one is?

Says right there, ... "1957 Dodge Custom Royal Lancer at its finest" ... even if it's a Coronet !

Can anyone make out what the dealer tag says ?

darn that silver paint (that is so alluring) - I can't read it. Too bad the fella didn't leave a number to call.

Judging by the pictures, it must be on the eastern side of the state - I can't see a single mountain in the background.

Doc, did you get that hubcap I sent ya?

Yessir, I did .... thanks. I keep meaning to take it out to the shop to compare it with the
stainless versions. I am quite puzzled as to what exactly this painted one is about ? The
only painted hubcaps I can think of on a fin era passenger car were offered on the Studebaker
Scotsman ... a ridiculously el cheapo car ! All indications would suggest the Plymouth idea
for something like this would be the Silver Special, but that "model" went a different direction,
offering some of the upscale trim items at a lower price .... not an all-out bare bones el cheapo.

Could it be from an absolute no-frills Plaza ? A fleet car offering ? Other ? Having one in hand
will help chase out an answer. Thanks for sending it.

Could it be from a truck? I think I recall seeing some on a Dodge p/u once.

This one was inside what looked like a bare-bones Plaza sedan at Speedway. It probably came from that car. I have owned the stainless ones and the painted steelies are identical. I have no idea, but I think the bottom-buck Plymouth (maybe early version) came with painted steel hubcaps - the dealer order sheets on the homepage do not address hubcaps. Full wheel covers were standard on Furies, Belvederes, and Custom Suburbans, but optional on all others.

If they fit a 58 Plymouth truck, I'd be surprised !

So, you're saying a basic 2WD Dodge truck might have worn the painted Plymouth steelie dog
dishies ?

Ford offered a similar deal on their 61-66 cars and trucks .... the cars got stainless, the trucks
got the same hub cap, but in painted steel.

I guess I never paid very close attention to the Dodge truck hubcap situation. I think most had
shed them by the time I started doing 50's Mopars anyway.

Kathy sent me an e-mail and this car is just a hop, skip, and a jump away in Erie! I guess she is busy this weekend, but if it doesn't sell, I might be able to see it next week. I guess there is some interest from Sweden - maybe Joakim!

Hey! It's back!

Now it has gone upscale.  Instead of out in the fields by the barn, the images have gone Eva Gabor!  Darlin' I love you, but give me Park Avenue!

The owner should have put this one in the Forney exhibit.
