Hello everyone,
I am selling my 1961 Dodge Dart Pioneer. I am located near the Northshore in Massachusetts.
The car is a 4 door with the pushbuttion auto tourqueflite trans and the 318 poly V8 with 2 barrell carb. The car has around 70,000 original miles. The car runs and drives great. I had an SSBC 4 wheel disc brake setup installed last summer and it stops great. The original color for the car is buckskin with a white roof. I think at some point it was painted because right now it is a cream/tan color with a white top. The interior is brown and tan. I have done a lot of work to the car so that it is a very driveable car. I have installed a rebuilt distributor with a pertronix electronic kit which makes the motor run great but it is easily switched back to points if thats what you want. The motor has new plugs and wires and the valves were recently adjusted as well as the auto choke so it starts and runs great.
The car also has a new starter relay, the starter has been rebuilt with new solenoid, new battery, flushed the radiator and the trans fluid has been changed and a new pan gasket installed. When the valves were adjusted I blasted and painted the valve covers and installed new gaskets. I currently have the seats out to have them recovered by dynasty in stoneham,ma. The car does have a transmission fluid leak that I intend on getting repaired if I keep the car but would be willing to negotiate if the buyer would rather fix it. The car is very solid and only has a small amount of rust/rot. I will post pics soon just wanted to know if there is any interest. I am asking $5000 for the car which is well less than what I have into it of course.
thanks,
Ken

Hi Guys,
Sorry for the delay I just returned from carlisle and had no pc down there. The seats should be done in a few weeks. I tore out the old carpet because it was pretty nasty. I am not going to put in a new carpet right now
because one of the seals or weatherstrips on the door or window is leaking and wanted to repair that before installing a new carpet. The floors are very solid and there was one rot whole fixed by the previous owner with riveted sheet metal and bondo not perfect but solid. The rear quarters have some rot in the inside for some reason that fixed the outside of the panel but not the inside but it is not bad. The tranny leak started slow and then whatever seal must have let go because a lot of trans fluid leaked out on my garage floor recently. The tranny is good I think it just needs that seal replaced not sure which one it is. I plan on having that fixed and the seats in which will increase the price depending upon how much that costs me.
I want to sell the car locally or at least within the united states so thanks for the interest but I am not interested in selling the car to someone overseas. I will post some more pics soon.
thanks,
Ken

Your trans leak may be the shift selector cable, any splits in the plastic sleeve will equal a leak.

Nothing but some heat shrink a little time to fix.

Your car, so sell to whoever you like, but I always think its crazy to cut a world full of potential buyers out.

I'm not sure if thats the leak. It looks like I have several quarts on the floor of the garage.
Wanting to sell it locally is not because I wouldn't want to sell it to someone out of the country I am mainly concerned with the shipping and the transaction in general.

When my plymouth has it ocasional trans fluid dump, it leaks a lot and for no apparent reason (torque converter drain back, it seems).

When the tc drains back into the trans, it sort of over fills the trans case and the fluid leaks everywhere.

My plymouth (not driving yet, but moves) will go for ages without dropping a dot, then, just lets it all (a lot anyway) out.

Hi Guys,
The car is still for sale. The transmission has been rebuilt with new front pump. It runs and shifts great.
The seats have been redone with two tone vinyl with pleats the same colors as the car. I am now asking
$7000 for the car. Just the brake system, trans, and seats were six thousand all done within the last year.
The car runs great.
thanks,
Ken

Ken

Have you thought of putting it on ebay or CL?

I think 4500 would be a good reserve, just hard to find a buyer this time of the year and maybe worse over on your side of the world (I hate car shopping when its cold)

Vehicle is still for sale. The floors have been repaired / patched professionally. It has new tires with a nice set of 500 style wheels similar to an older dodge charger.

Don't know if you have changed your mind about shipping overseas but you should leave it open... It's such a nice car and while there are a few in the States, there are people worldwide who probably would like one. Your concerns about shipping and transaction should be no different to a local transaction unless there is something wrong with the paperwork or you just want cash in hand.

Car doesn't leave your hands until the money is in your account or paypal etc. You send back an "as is" receipt and buyer sends transporter to take away.. In fact my scariest time was when I put a large amount of money into the sellers account.

Hey guys,
Thank you for all of the information and interest. I have a few things to fix on the car that I found after taking it out of the garage the other day. So for right now I am going to keep it for a while. If I decide to sell it again I will probably put it on ebay. I have spoken to many people over the last few years but no one actually has the time to come out and take a look which I understand.

Hey guys my dodge is for sale again. Serious inquiries only please. Several new smaller parts. Plugs tune up items etc. New e-brake handle from Gary Goers looks great and pedal cover. Installed some new weather stripping in both front doors not perfect but makes a big difference. Biggest new item is a brand new windshield from Pilkington classics from Ohio. Came out great and makes the car much better and fun to drive. Needs some stuff like any old car but drives great. Asking $6,000. I will ship overseas.
