Account Inactive by Request Posts: 1601 | Does anyone know where I can find a new fuel pump or fuel pump rebuild kit for my 1957 Chrysler with the 392 Hemi. I'm only interested in an original Carter pump or a rebuild kit for it. (This is a very original car). Please PM me if you have any suggestions for me to follow up on to secure one of these rare items! I'm getting desperate!

Expert 5K+ Posts: 7806 Location: Williams California | Jim Good to see you here. You might try Andy Bernbaum for a pump, Or, have EGGE machine in Los Angeles rebuild yours. I'd call them at [800] 866-3443 to be sure they can do your Carter pump. ---John

Elite Veteran Posts: 888 Location: Peoples Republic of Oregon | Be cautious of the pumps labeled as 4280. There are many that simply are incorrect for the Hemi application regardless of what the book says it fits. I have no experience with this company http://arthurgouldrebuilders.com/ but it is worth a phone call.

Location: North Australia | I installed one of these kits. It is a bit of a tricky job. Need to ensure you compress the lever ( a little) while you tighten the body screws. http://chucker54.stores.yahoo.net/camefupureki.html Steve.

Expert Posts: 4589 Location: Northern New Jersey | Last time I picked up a fuel pump at Kanter for my 54 Fredome they had an extensive collection of Carter Pumps that had been rebuilt. If you call them and ask to speak to a guy named Steve in the Warehouse, he is very knowledgeable and helpful. He'll make sure you get a Carter pump back. Good Luck.

Account Inactive by Request Posts: 1601 | Thanks for all the help, guys! I've found the Burnbaum's will rebuild mine for $90 using materials to make it more compatible with modern fuels, or I can buy a rebuilt one from Kanter for $119.00 that they guarantee to be an actual Carter and the correct one for the car. Boy, these guy's are proud of this stuff! Is Kanter a reputable supplier? I had a friend who really had some problems with them...any first hand experiences? Any advice on which would be the better route? Thanks again.

Expert Posts: 3393 Location: Chestertown, NY ( near Lake George) | Remember Kanter is only a broker/middleman. I have had no issues for 3 yrs with the Airtex 4280 for 45.00, the old one was a Carter replacement it is in the trunk as it was still a working pump.
