I think I finally found a replacement engine for my worn out 361.

Are there any gotcha's involved in transplanting a 62 NY 413 and 62 TF into my 61 Newport (Canadian
Windsor)?

It comes with the original transmission crossmember. Don't know if I need it or can use it.

Motor mounts?

Thanks for putting up with my questions on this over the years.

Ray

You'll need the '62 trans crossmember as the aluminium torqueflite has a longer tailshaft. At least that was what I have done on my '60NY where I used a '64 transmission and crossmember.

I am under the impression that the 62 TF is a unique animal- closer to the previous TF than the 64. The 62 has the in line brake similar to earlier cast iron TF.

I am trying to make sure this is a drop-in proceedure befor I spend the money.

Thanks

Sorry to jump in here Ray but this question might also help you........

BigBlock,

I've also bought ( still in the US ATM ) a '62 Aluminum T/F with rear brake on the extension for my 413 conversion to my '59 Dodge.

Because you had to use a longer tailshaft I'm guessing the '62 Aluminum T/F is a shorter trans overall than the earlier cast iron Torqueflite ?

Back to you Ray.....

The 727 is longer, only slightly. But the transmissionbody itself is shorter than the castiron version, therefore a slightly longer support on the crossmember is needed.

I did this before in a 58 Plymouth. 62 413 and TF from a 300. I had to modify the drive shaft for length, but as I recall most of it bolted up... e- brake, push buttons. Can't remember how exactly I switched the cross member, but I don't recall that it was a pain.
