They have ruined the car from the way it was found, and it's too far gone to restore. *In before Neil whines about the cement box leaking... AGAIN*

I have doubts they would want to take the car...the Smithsonian is quite packed as it is...heck a majority of their "collection" is just archived and not viewable.

Elite Veteran Posts: 782 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Location: Edmonton, Alberta | I've been very quiet on this subject. This will be my first (I think) and last post about Ms. Belvedere. I couldn't agree more with wbower3. I think that it would have been beyond wonderful if this car had been unearthed as a pristine, perfect "new" car. Unfortunately, it was not. Time, Mother Nature and some engineering errors got the best of this poor Plymouth and there's just plain and simply nothing left. There isn't enough good steel in that car to build a set of plastic coated racks for my new plastic Maytag dishwasher. I understand the sentimental attachment. I wasn't in Tulsa when this happened and I can't even begin to imagine what a disappointment it must have been. Every Chrysler fan on the planet wishes this story had the ending we all were hoping for, but it didn't. The poor horse is beaten? The poor horse is dead. It needs a proper burial. We all have FL cars; let's put our energy into making them as perfect as we can.

Member Posts: 15 | Hi FL Folks. We Limeys on the other side of the Pond think about Missy B. all the time! It was an ill fated idea to bury her at all. We heard that she was moved somtime during her underground life to a new location that was totally unsuitable! You couldn't make this stuff up LoL. Mystery is the 'Spice of Life' a bit like 'Area 51'. A sensible person would have stuck a camera down there before opening her up. A quick slight of hand and another car put in her place.(Everyone would be happy then) So what to do now? Put her in a Museum so we Limeys can fly over and marvel at her BEAUTY! Real Patina is a hundred times harder to reproduce than a shiny paint Jobbie! She is a tribute to stupidity and foolishness. I'd much rather see her than aline of Shiny Veyrons. Missy B. One of a kind, now and Forever. Only real Mopar Folks understand. John at Mopower UK.

And Gord, this IS the message board for Miss Belvedere...it's not taking up any band-width from your attention. Yeah, John, her ultimate fate is very sad.

Member Posts: 15 | Hi Missy B. Fans, I've flown 6000 miles and drove for 4 hours to see the 'General Sherman Tree' in Cali. I would deffo do the same to see Missy B.!!! I also like 57 Chevrolet Belairs and tried to win one at Vegas several times whilst at the Sahara Hotel. Would I fly 5000+ miles to see a rusty Belair, probably not? Dare I mention 'Christine'? Us Limeys thought that was the bestest film ever, topping American Grafitti and Bullitt. There is a huge American car scene all over Europe and early Chryslers are well represented. Surely a museum somewhere in the US has a space for Missy B.??? If not she can come here to the Old Country cos we would sure want her in all her rusted Glory!!! John at Mopower

John at Mopower Now there's a thought... Assuming she survives the move without any more of her rusty bits falling off, that would not be a bad way to end her days in a car museum in England (or the U.K.) somewhere. She'll never roll again, but some might still want to see her. You'd have to negotiate with her current owners however which are the descendants of the man whose guess came the nearest to being the population of Tulsa in 2007.
I was there in 2007 in Tulsa at the unearthing and saw how little had been left untouched by the flood waters and time. I thought then (and still do) that she should be crushed respectfully and put out of her misery. (In my best Dr. McCoy voice) "She's dead, Jim" Edited by 58 DESOTOS RULE 2014-08-15 10:42 AM

I have seen this photo pop up here and there and even bid on one on ebay a couple of years ago. Still have no clue who she is. Its a great photo!

Expert Posts: 2309 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Location: The Bat Cave, Fairborn, OH | It was advertising photo work. If one could discover who was the agency that submitted it for publication, one could possibly find out the name of the model but it seems a hopeless task to me because that was over 50 years ago. Why are you interested in her name?

Ya gotta love any girl who can get dressed up just to caress an exhaust pipe. Edited by d500neil 2014-08-20 4:34 PM
