Expert Posts: 2788 Location: USA - KY | As some of you can likely tell, the dealership nameplate on my car is a big FAKE. Blush. I was very envious of the FL members who had REALLLY NIFTY FL nameplates, like the ones in the photos below for example. And seeing how I couldn't charm any of them into selling me their nifty nameplates (dangitalltoheck, but I don't blame them!), I decided to make my own. I really like that "Oak Park" one best. So I found the "Big O" nameplate on Ebay, attached it to a Flookerang from an old FL truck, had the whole mess chromed...and voila...big FAKE FL nameplate. The "Big O" dealership in South Carolina still exists (at least it did the last time I checked)...a Mopar dealership that opened in the 1970's, if memory serves. Ah well...I tried. . This is on the '57 Adventurer we are doing a partial restoration (almost done) at Smitty's Classic Cars in Branson, MO. Veteran Posts: 243 Location: Pieksamaki, Finland, Europe | hergfest - 2019-03-03 9:59 AM I just picked up a Seattle Auto frame I didn't have. I didn't know the history on the dealer so thanks. Seattle Automobile Co. was one of the oldest automobile dealers in Seattle, it began business in the early 20th century, probably in 1910's. It was known earlier exclusively as a Packard dealer and I remember one of their former buildings is still known as historical "Seattle Automobile Building". I do not have any information when they started as Chrysler-Plymouth dealer and why their business got smaller after the glory days of first half of the century. The family who bought my Chrysler as new remembers it was a small dealership at that time and the car was delivered late to the dealer and that it was a bargain because of the '58 models coming soon. Some car guys from Seattle who had been around in 60s and 70s had no memories at all of a Chrysler dealer by that name. I have no information when they have gone out of business but last bit of history I've found was company's owner's obituary from mid-1960s. I actually made an repro version of my frame so it matches better with the restoration result :D The one in the pic above is the original. Edited by brdtee 2019-03-03 11:58 AM | ||
