It started as a seemingly small project. Install the new NOS speedo and detail the engine compartment. Well now the dash is apart for paint and re-wirring. The the minor detailing is now a complete motor out to be refreshed, inner fenders, firewall etc to be painted, DB conversion and who knows what else I will find.

Isnt it funny how these things snowball

Glad I am not the only one this happens to

The hard part is trying to stop yourself going overboard and turning it into a huge money pit

It comes down to your ego a bit (I think) wether it all has to be perfect or you can let some of it slide (very hard to do for me, but the dodge wont be a #1 car, that I assure you)

You might as well take the inner fenders off and sand and paint those too...only a couple bolts....and that will make it easier to paint the firewall etc.

Saw that speedo on ebay too...looks like you got it before I did...was a good deal too....congrats

I still used the bottom dash pad stainless trim..it looks good, gives it a little more detail. Will post a picture if I remember...so I filled the top holes and left the bottom ones for the trim...turned out really nice.

Things are moving along. Sub-frame cleaned and painted. All new suspention components. AJA disc convertion installed. Motor at the machine shop to be rebuilt. Picked up a -62 727 Trans that will replace the cast iron tourqe-flight, which also ment a 6 rater than 8 bolt crank. My latest evil-bay purchase arrived in the form of a 1960 cross ram, complete with exhaust. Will fire up the 413 and break in the cam with a 4bbl so I don't have to many bugs to iron out at once with a fresh motor. Hope to have the firewall etc painted in a week or two, should be done just about the same time the motor is completed.
If I just could find a suitable swivel seat for my project I be happy as a pig in slop.

Whoa, Peter! You are building a fine car there. Well done, keep the photos and story coming, that is an interesting build (I am envious!)

Steve.

Firewall painted, 413 rebuilt and waiting for the -62 727 to come back from the transmission guru Pat Blais. Going a lot slower than anticipated but I hope to drive it by late July.

That dash color looks exactly the same as the color of the dash in my ex 60 Polara ( sort of) !
Nice job by the way!

That is a match of the original color by a local paint shop. It was two tone but I followed guyman's lead and made it single color and nixed the dash pad.
