Veteran Posts: 164 Location: ST. Stephen NB Canada | In the process of sourcing material for my 55 Dodge interior, I came across a company called "Automotive Interiors". Sent an inquiry, & my email was promptly answered. I followed this up by a phone call, & the lady "Diane", answered all of my questions promptly. I was very surprised at the price, $700.00 for both the front & back seat. The product they offer is " Custom Taylored Seat Covering", that I would need to install myself. The pictures looked good on line, but has any other members used this company & their products? I got a sample of their floor carpet, & it looks like a good product. If anyone has feedback, I would appreciate hearing from you. Thanks-Garry McGaw

Veteran Posts: 164 Location: ST. Stephen NB Canada | Hi Roger, Yes you are correct. I showed Diane pictures of my car, & the vinyl piece on the top of the seat back, & the front of the bench would be straight across, rather than having a step in the last 6-8 inches as it is now. Also she advised me that the "tweed" fabric that they show on their site could be replaced with a "period correct fabric" that would be more appropriate. I would go with black as it is now & be more than happy. I am more concerned with making it look good, than keeping everything original, as I have got a lot more invested than I wanted too, & still got a way to go. She should be in the paint shop in a couple of weeks. If your interested you can see my car on utube-just type in my name. thanks for reading-Garry McGaw

They're selling you generic upholstery cloth (and vinyl)? Are you constructing a Hot Rod, or a Kustomization, or creating a restoration of your car's original appearance?

Veteran Posts: 164 Location: ST. Stephen NB Canada | Hi Neil, The "more appropriate" part means , that they can provide me with "more period correct" material than what they show in their samples on their website. To buy "correct material", & pay through the nose for an upholstery shop is a bit of a $tretch for me. The plan definitely is not a Hot Rod, or a Kustom but a good looking driver that will be changed very little, but still provide the enjoyment of owning & driving. I know di

Veteran Posts: 164 Location: ST. Stephen NB Canada | Neil-I some how posted without finishing my topic. I understand the importance of originality to people, & I guess we all have our preferences. I really hate it when people alter the exterior of a car by adding continental kits, or lowering them to the ground etc. Those things don't work for me no matter what they are called. I have a friend who has a 52 Plymouth, & he says he is going to remove all of the chrome. I cringe at the idea, but he likes it. So when I read your comment-I understand where you are coming from. Thanks -Garry

Expert 5K+ Posts: 6500 Location: Newark, Texas (Fort Worth) | Just got a note from Diane! AUTOMOTIVE INTERIORS To Me Jun 23 at 10:15 AM Marc, A couple of things, we do not handle original factory materials so when a customer is looking for original stock we also use SMS for purchasing. They are one of the largest suppliers of original cloth. Next is that we do not have the original stock design pattern for this vehicle either. Diane

Veteran Posts: 144 Location: Chicago, IL | They did the seats for my 69 Fury police replica in black vinyl/tweed and I was happy with the results. They've also done a few other sets for my fellow police restorers and have saved us a TON of money. If you have a set of covers that are shot, they can use a them as a pattern. Their customer service is good and Diane will answer questions as best she can.
