New User Posts: 1 | I have recently purchased a 56 Royal and would like some info as to whether there is a front disc retrofit kit out there on the interweb or if there is some sort of parts swapping that can be done to put disc on the front? I really like the looks and ride, but want to update some of the safety features to make driving in modern traffic more enjoyable. Thanks! | ||

So i thought about doing my homework on parts ill need but i have not a clue on the brackets they are using in their kits. Does anyone have any info into this?? Thanks TD | ||

Veteran Posts: 272 Location: Missouri | I used the AAJ brake kit on the '55, bought the calipers, pads, and hoses('76 Monte Carlo), and rotors('78 Plymouth Volare) locally. The basic AAJ kit has the brackets, hardware, machined spacer (to adapt the rotors' inner bearing and seal to our spindles), and complete illustrated instructions. It alone was about $250 IIRC. Spindles and outer tierod ends had to be modified some, but it wasn't hard to do, just takes some time with a grinder, welder and a 5/8" NF tap and nut. I can't report on performance yet as I have to finish plumbing the new line to the rear drum brakes and bleed it all. Harold | ||

Fla. | The Tex Smith Mopar hot rod book has a conversion in it using '79-'85 Olds Toronado (& probably Eldorado) rotors that are redrilled to the Mopar pattern, backing plates moded from early 70s 4 wheel drive Blazer & apparently the hub from the Mopar. it's an Old book, has contact info listed as Ed Gross, down n dirty Rod shop, 221 N. Elias St. Wales, Wi. 53183 | ||
