The rubber diaphram in my fuel pump is bad, kinda sticky and mushy; are there kits to rebuild it? It appears to be an AC or Carter brand although I can't find a name on it, says Model 12V 2401 and Made in U.S.A., have it mounted to the frame rail near the tank. Parts guy at NAPA says he hasn't seen any kits for them in a long time. I can buy a new one from Summit, http://www.summitracing.com/parts/sum-g3136-1, but would rather rebuild this one and save some $ But I also wonder if today's gas will mess the new one up prematurely? I am not familiar with the one you have, but a lot of the old electric fuel pumps rebuild parts are very rare (some, non existant when new), especially, if they were after market (hot rod, generic) ones.

I think you will find that the fuel ate your diaphram and a vintage rebuild kit will (most likely) end up the same way.

I think you would be best off with the new one (I havnt looked at the link), but research the new pump and see what parts (if any) are available if its an expencive one, if its cheap, buy 2

Yes, I'll try to find out about replacement parts for the new one, it's $75 plus shipping so I really can't buy 2. I also am using a mechanical pump on the 440; I'd try it alone since I rarely get the 6-pack to function, but I installed Moroso 1/2" aluminum line from the pump many years ago. Could be too much of a strain on the mechanical pump; I only put it on because the electric pump quit on me one year before I got to St. Louis, when we were on our trip tp the Mopar Nationals. I rebuilt it when we returned but kits were easy to get and the gas wasn't so crappy, even premium 93 octane.

You have a Walbro bellows pump, kits are available.

Cool, thanks 57chizler! for that price I'll get 2 or 3 kits; I can still use the mechanical pump as well so the Walbro won't have to strain too hard.
