Subject: Help! Need studs!

Well, the machine shop lost my head to valve cover studs on my four bolt 413 heads...anyone know where I can get 8 of them ASAP? Fine thread on top, std on bottom...thanks!

If you have a Fastenall store nearby, they can usually order those odd combinations in a couple of days. I got some really odd ones last week and it took two days to get them in the store...but they weren't cheap.

Try an auto parts store like Napa with a Dorman selection or even Home depot or Ace hardware. You would be surprised what grade 8 hardware they have. you may only need grade 5 for valve cover studs. Marc.

Maybe I'm old-fashioned but I think if the shop lost them it's their responsibility to replace them.

That is a very common stud design, coarse on one end and fine on the other. I am sure Dorman makes them, we had a whole assortment in a shop I worked in 3 years ago, I believe Napa resupplied us.

I was given Dorman 675.084 wS the stud needed. Sadly going thru the wall of Dorman at the well stocked machine shop/ parts store got me nowhere. The wall of Dorman didn't offer anything, and it showed online that neither of the vendors that supply them offered that item anymore.

I ended up finding some used ones at Wildcat...
