Extreme Veteran Posts: 480 Location: The Great Northwest | Here are some photos of a 1961 Chrysler New Yorker interior that has benefitted from being in the same family since it was new. While that is somewhat rare, the fact that the seats had covers put on them when first purchased and only taken off a few years ago permits all of us to see what they looked like when the car was new. White vinyl seemed highly vulnerable to the original owner so he made the decision to preserve them. The armrests are also shown so you can see the texture of the black contrasting trim that uses the same type of material as the white seats. Enjoy the pictures because we won't see this type of original preservation for a long while....... if ever. Extreme Veteran Posts: 480 Location: The Great Northwest | Here's some shots of the steering wheel and the dome light. This particular dome light uses a different style of chrome base and lens than most other 61 NYers. I have seen one on a 61 300 but none others. If you have any infomation or leads as to where the oddball type of lens can be found, please send me a PM. The lens is a fairly square, flat lens as opposed to the raised center version with fine indentations that run end to end. Expert 5K+ Posts: 7206 Location: Victoria, BC, on Vancouver Island, Canada | Arland, nice car, where does it reside? Must be in WA with the mild climate to preserve the original clear steering wheel like that. On the 61s are all the dome lights in the center of the roof on 2 and 4 door hardtops? On the 60 there are 2 dome lights, one on each side above the roof rail on both 2 and 4 door hardtops. My 62 300 had only one in the center. On my 60 and ex-62 the door switches only turn on the map light, not the dome light. On my ex-60 Polara the door switches operate the dual dome lights - one by each roof rail. I would prefer that the door swiches operate the dome lights rather than the map lights, and always wondered why they designed the Chryslers to only light up the map light when the door is opened. Do you have any exterior photos of this car? Please post if so. Edited by imopar380 2014-08-30 10:47 PM

Extreme Veteran Posts: 480 Location: The Great Northwest | Ian, Oddly enough I did not take any exterior pictures because the location was really limited for access to get good shots and the main reason was to take a lot of detailed pictures of the engine compartment because the car came with so many factory options. You can see by the door and dash pictures that it has power windows and door locks as well as auto pilot and air conditioning. There are also a couple of shots of the trunk with the carpet pulled back to show some of the original rubber mat that always seems to disappear in these cars. Can't say for sure about the dome light in the 2 doors and 4 doors but maybe someone can jump in here to give a definitive answer. Yes it has been in the Northwest for all of it's life. Elite Veteran Posts: 827 Location: tailFinland | Yes, this kind of domelight is used in some 300Gs and I've also seen few 62 300s with this option. My 300 G has similar dome light and the good news are! Yes there are repros available! I bought mine this summer at Power Big meet swap from Molle Andersson in Sweden. Molle had few of them. Couldnt find his buisness card so perhaps wizard can help you with his email if you cannot find them from US. Interior is fabulous. It must be special order "all vinyl" interior that was standard for convertibles.

Extreme Veteran Posts: 480 Location: The Great Northwest | Thanks for posting the exterior pictures. There was a brake issue so the car couldn't be moved out of the driveway and made for a very limited view of the exterior.

Elite Veteran Posts: 827 Location: tailFinland | Arland! Another lead. '61 Rear trim strips are also reproduced in Sweden. Michael Burke distributes them in USA ($300 + shippng from Michigan) c300f at hotmail dot com. Cheaper option is to find mid 80's Oldsmobile STW with stainless trim and use its rear side trim (same shape)
