Location: Nashville, TN | When I got my 60 Imperial the heater hoses were connected together, bypassing the heater, just forming a loop for the water to circulate. I have installed a new valve and ready to hook the hoses back like they are supposed to be. Whoever did the bypass cut the hoses to the same length and neither will reach the heater. I have bought some new hose, but my problem is this...There are two hoses coming out of the front of the car going back to the heater, one is heater input, the other output. Both go back to the front of the engine, one in front of the other. Which hose goes to the heater input, the one closest to the radiator, or the one just behind it. My shop manual shows a picture but I can't see which one is heater input.
Which one is heater input, the front hose or the one just behind it? |

Location: Newark, Texas (Fort Worth) | Well: If there is a valve, send the water from the pump to it, then return water to the manifold where ever it goes. The valve will keep hot water out of the ****pit when you don't need it. Marc. |

Location: Nashville, TN | Back to the original question...There are two ports coming out from the pump. One right behind the other. Which one goes to the bypass valve, the other goes to the heater output hose. Which port goes to the input bypass valve. The other one must be the return line. Both ports are in line and I still don't know which is which. Please somebody give me an answer my simple mind can understand, Like the front port goes to the _____________. Thanks, Ron |

Location: South Central PA | Front port goes to the left (drivers) side of the heater core, rear port goes to left side of the bypass valve, right side of bypass valve goes to the lower right of the heater core. |

Location: Victoria, BC, on Vancouver Island, Canada | Here's a visual of the correct hook-up. WHen I first bought the car mine were routed backwards at the 2 front connections and the heater wouldn't heat up.

Location: Nashville, TN | Thanks a million guys. I had tried disconnecting each hose to see if one side sucked in water and not the other. Of course I had the engine off...Both ports poured out the water. |
