Location: New Castle PA | I'm not having good luck with the search engine. If someone can help, I'd appreciate it. I recall someone (possibly one of our Australian friends) very meticulously machining the retainer for a Benrus DeSotomatic clock for his car, I believe a 1957 DeSoto. I'm trying to locate that thread. It showed schematics and measurements and was quite detailed.
Thanks for any help that is offered!

Location: New Castle PA | I did find this page, which MAY be what I'm remembering. http://forwardlook.net/forums/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=39513&star... Seems to me there were more details of the retainer, though. |

Location: The Mile High City | Hi, Ed: I think that was Bob Hamilton. I haven't done the search for the thread, but I copied and attached his drawings.

Location: New Castle PA | Not me, but I have a guy in the UK who needs one, and has machinist training/experience. I may suggest that if they aren't already available as repros (I know Bo Malefors' shop had planned to make them), perhaps this fellow can make them. Certainly he'd make one for himself, and then have to decide if the trouble and expense of making them so they are affordable is something that's do-able. |

Location: The Mile High City | Unfortunately, I think there are a couple of critical dimensions missing from Bob Hamilton's wonderful work - however, I think all the missing information can be answered with the horn ring and the watch casing. I have thought about trying to have Bob's work reproduced, but I know it will be pretty expensive and I haven't taken the leap yet. Most of the milling shops I inquired with use CAD drawings and making those can be a big expense in addition to the mill work. |
