New User Posts: 4 | Hi,I have a 1960 Dodge Dart Phoenix with factory power brakes. I need to replace my master cylinder because it has started leaking inside the car but the only master cylinders I can find listed for power brakes do not have the pushrod attached like mine. I know on the earlier cars like 57-58 plymouths,Dodges, etc with power brakes had an adjustable pushrod that simply slid out of the master cylinder when it was removed, did this change for 1960? My car has a non adjustable pushrod which is attached directly to the master cylinder and doesn't pull out. The only master cylinder I can find online with the pushrod attached is listed as being for manual brakes! Am I correct in assuming there is no difference between the power brakes and manual brakes m/c except for the pushrod? Did Chrysler just start using one master cylinder in 1960 or was there also a power brake version with pushrod attached? The master listed on Rock Autos website is Centric #13063053 for manual brakes (with pushrod) and #13063002 for power brakes (no pushrod) Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

New User Posts: 4 | Thanks guys,so it looks like I need to find the correct adjustable pushrod for my car so I can buy the correct master cylinder. Can someone post a photo of it? Or is it the exact same part with the same dimensions used on the 57,58,59 mopars?

New User Posts: 4 | Thanks everyone for all the information, especially 60 Dart for taking to the trouble to upload the photo and get the dimensions for me. It makes it much easier when I know exactly what I'm looking for! I will give them a call and see if that pushrod will work if not I will try look up that big m shop mentioned earlier and see if they have one. My Dart and I thank you all!

Veteran Posts: 174 Location: Camptown PA | According to my exchange manual there is a difference between the 58 -61 power and non power brake Dodge master cylinders. The power brake master cylinders interchange with: all Dodge and Desoto 55 thru early 58, Chry 56 thru early 58 and dodge truck (100 series) master cylinders and of course 58 to 61 power master cylinders from Dodge, PLym, Desoto, and Chrys. . Hope this helps.

New User Posts: 4 | Thanks again to 60Dart for uploading a photo for me. I was able to find the exact original part thanks to you. Now I can fix my brakes. I was told the Centric master cylinders are made in China. Anyone here know the bendix, raybestos or Wagner part numbers for a 60 with power brakes, and if those brands are still made in America? Veteran Posts: 242 Location: 33844 | If it is a driver , for safety you should put in a #1323 dual mc (late 60's mopar with all drums - about $30). Bolts in , then just plug the T port that led to the rears and connect the rears to the other port on the mc. Adapters are used. You will need to make a bracket to mount a brake-lights-switch to the steering column at the pedal.

Extreme Veteran Posts: 337 Location: UK | I did the same as Richbo above but my brake light switch was fitted in a 5 way tee piece so left that was it was. Switch just works off the pressure from the front brakes.
