Extreme Veteran Posts: 428 Location: McCleary WA | If you have the time check out the LeMay Family Collection in Spanaway WA, about 15 miles south of Tacoma (253-272-2336). They have about 500 cars of all makes on display and are really great folks. It is part of the Harold LeMay collection which once numbered over 3,000 cars. Also there is the new LeMay America's Car Museum in Tacoma ((253) 779-8490) which was started by the family. They advertise "up to 500 cars" but in reality had 243 including motorcycles the last time I counted them. It is run by people who don't know much about cars and don't collect any themselves, but the cars are mostly nice and the building is unique. I worked there for 3 years but couldn't stand the commute or the BS any longer. And about 30 miles east of Portland OR is a large MoPar wrecking yard called Wildcat Auto Wrecking (503-668-7786). I only spotted one '57 Dodge when I was there Wednesday.

Expert Posts: 1363 Location: Apeldoorn, Netherlands | Thank you all! I'll be going from LA through Bishop to Seattle, WA. Usually I would visit 'my dad' in Puyallup. But sadly, Roy died last year of lung cancer. He was a forwardlook member, but not outspoken. I would love to come to Spokane, to do a 're-enactment' at the Plantation Restaurant: Probably will go through the inlands one way and the coast the other way. All depending on wheather also.

Expert Posts: 1348 Location: Valley Forge, Pa. | 3 weeks, that would mean later in March. I really hope the east cost goes through some major weather changes and a lot of rain by then, just to wash down all the salt. From Florida to Maine, it has been a mess with little signs of improving soon. Every 3 days on average, we have had some sort of frozen precipitation for over 2 months. They're measuring in hours, the amount of time here in S.E. Pa. that we have been above freezing in Feb. and the municiple water systems taste of salt. 3 weeks can bring a lot of changes and we are ready! Oh well, HAVE A SAFE AND ENJOYABLE DRIVE! Karl.

And a couple boring engine-shots, but, cleaned up the front of the engine, on SUN, in anticipation of replacing the upper radiator hose, soon ("just because"....),and, installing the Bendix front brake adjuster mechanisms....at really long-last. Can't wait to see how he brakes, now, with the 11x3" Duo Servo's being set at full-auto effect. Expert Posts: 1363 Location: Apeldoorn, Netherlands | Thank you, Darryl, I think I havew been there before, with a fellow FWDLK member, and Roy. Wasn't the owner a garbage collector at first? And I been to the Wildcat too. Spend almost a whole day there. Amazing to see those fins stacked up. And they still have a lot of parts. Aluminized pipes and OEM undercoated body tend to take care of themselves. "Bare Steel" painted suspension parts (like upper/lower control arms) can be visually renewed, altho clear-coating of actual bare-steel pieces makes for relatively non-permanent appearances). There really are not many under-hood (bonnet, y'all) pieces that can not be removed, for detailing and painting. Right now, the air cleaner is crazed (crazy, I tell ya) and needs a complete repaint, and just replaced the uppa radiator hose, because it was about 1/8" too short, and had allowed some seepage to occur around its thermostat-end. And, oh yeah: the clear plastic seat cover has begun to split along a seam, on its outboard-passenger's side/edge. There's always something needing-doing, on a Driver-Car. Posts: 19146 Location: bishop, ca | The I-80 ain't (gonna be) closed...it's a major highway, and OBTW, we have a little meteorological event going on... something to do with having a major drought occurring along the West Coast, for the past few years. Warm and sunny, alla-time, here. See photos, above, to confirm the "snowpack" conditions, along the roadways. Pics taken above 7K' elev; should have FEET's of snow on the ground, around here, at the end of Winter. Edited by d500neil 2015-03-10 3:10 AM

Previously, got high-12's/low 13's on the highway, with the stock 3.36 rear end ratio. Posts: 19146 Location: bishop, ca | Here's some real MPG results (full-fill to full-fill...the only way to do it, accurately) on various road trips. The MPG is not as high as I'd expected, but these results were with 2-3 adults aboard, and were recorded at highway speeds, up to 70-ish, and driving between 4K-8K elevation. 3/7: 90 miles; 13.04 3/22: 94 miles; 12.48 3/24: 92 miles; 11.5 (this one involved some stop-and-go 'city' driving, and up to 8K') 4/17: 138 miles; 14.38 Not wonderful mileage, but real-world/actual, at speed, and not lightly loaded. So, it is what it was...PRICELESS.
