Board Moderator Posts: 21 | Hello Everyone, I just received confirmation that Virgil Exner will be inducted into the 'Mopar Collector's Guide Hall Of Fame' this year during our meet at Carlisle. Further information on the induction ceremony will be posted as soon as details are available. With Virgil Exner Jr. appearing at our '1st Annual Forward Look Nationals' and now news of his Father's Hall Of Fame induction, this will indeed be a milestone event !! I saw and heard Virgil Exner jr, along with a panel of other automotive designers of the era, speak at the Concorse d'Elaganse of America in Plymouth Michigan last July. It was an interesting seminar.

Expert 5K+ Posts: 8443 Location: Perth Australia | I dont get the hype about Virgil Exner jr? Apart from his dad being inducted (why did it take this long?) and his family attending (at least his son), I dont understand where his son comes into it? Was Virgil jr a car designer from the era? Was he a heavy influence on his fathers designs? Did he work in the design dept with his father? If someone would like to enlighten me, I would be happy to learn Otherwise, to me, it would be like Buz Aldrin's son coming for a visit There was a fellow from the design dept that made a brief appearance in this forum that was very interesting reading, sadly, we dont hear from him any more Anyway, I hope the shows good

Expert Posts: 3153 Location: NY & VT | Virgil Jr was indeed a designer, and very active with his father's design business while Sr. was alive. The definitive book on Exner: "Virgil Exner - Visioneer" by Peter Grist is must reading for those interested in FLs. It's a real coup that Jr. will be attending, he's an incredible resource for those who love Exner Sr.'s car designs. Virgil Exner Sr. was actually born Virgil Anderson, BTW, his name was changed later. Edited by firedome 2015-04-13 9:03 AM
