It's a 1959 Desoto Firesweep made in LA

The VIN plate by the driver's side door hinge should be M414 1xxxxx M=59 4=Desoto 1=Firesweep 4- Los Angles plant

412 says it is a Desoto(4) Firesweep (1) 2 door hardtop (2)

4014 the 14th Desoto made that day

CXC Glacier Blue top/Pearl White Body/Glacier Blue sweep

341 the interior

So, there was a "Custom" DeSoto optional trim package available? (....on the Firesweep models, analogous to
the Dodge Coronet "Custom" interior scheme packages)?

Desoto in that era offered a Custom interior on the Firesweeps that was in fact a Firedome interior (same code numbers)

Back in the 70s when I bought my Desoto, I heard tales of dealers that changed 1959 Firesweeps into Firedomes in an implied attempt to make more money

Add a couple of Firedome nameplates on the fender-there was no Firesweep nameplate on the fender as it would not fit on the shorten fender and a couple of nameplates in the interior and Joe Buyer probably wouldn't know

Of course the dealer did not worry about the unseen differences like the data plate format, the engine size 361 vs 383, the different size wheels, most of the colors, the shorter fenders....

WOW...didn't know about the DeSoto "Custom" model (in which years, again?)

Any pics available of those models?

And, the 58 Windsor Spring Special guys thought that THEY...were 'special'.

Move OVER, boys!!

There ought to be a unique Message Board created, to address all of the non-US car models that were
designed and built.

Each car sub-model could have its own thread titles, organized messages, and images.

Those models would be very interesting to categorize, research and to discuss in detail.

Oh, well.
