I have a new, pre bent stainless fuel line kit and I was surprised to find this non-flared, compression type fitting at my gas tank connection when I went to make the swap. What type of fitting is this and where can I get a new one or have one made? I screwed up the copper insert trying to pull it out to see what it was, big mistake on my part as now it's not useable. Any help is appreciated.

John,
I took that nut off the end of my old line and then put it on my new one. I never quite found a replacement for it as the 55 was longer than a normal fitting. I did have luck eventually from Inline Tube. They had a fitting like the original but I had to go into the store to actually get it matched. Their books don't go back to 55 / 56. They physically matched it at the store.

A standard flair did work for me. The unique thing was the nut...

I do have the nut, but need the insert. I appreciate your response, I'll try to get a hold of them this week.

I am not sure you really do. I don't recall having that insert in mine. I only had trouble with the nut. My take is original and I just have a flared standard line going in.
