So, it wasn't working I took the thing apart, holy crap!

The commutator is worn down 1/8th inch per side! The brushes are gone, the wires hit the rotor and were torn from the brushes. This thing is f**ked! So... what parts work to replace this motor?

Shouldnt be hard to get another one

There are a few members here that have wrecks or are wrecking these cars and I dont think there is much (if any) difference between them

What you do need to know is wether yours is a single speed or multi speed wiper

They will interchange the mounting, but the wiring and switch are different

It's a variable speed (variable exciter current) setup. I have one out of my seneca parts car that is working, but again, no park position. I don't think the one off the parts car works properly either otherwise I would just swap the top plates and have one that works right.

FYI, I have some photos of how to take the switch apart and clean and rebuild it, along with a way of fixing broken rivets. I'm just curious which parts interchange. Maybe I can have at least one project on this car that's a simple remove and replace operation! I spent today repainting and re-lensing all of dash instruments/warning lights.

Nope, if its like my dodge, it will happily fight you every step of the way

Be carefull of the not parking fault, it may actually be the switch not the parking contacts in the wiper motor and also, make sure the switch body is grounded or it wont work correctly

I found it easier to have the whole lot on the bench (concrete) and hook it all up to test and play with it

I agree with Mick. Play with it on the bench. You will ultimately get it all to work but you will be a better man than me if you can remember what all you did to accomplish this goal!!

It's all been on the bench. the wiper switch works right, I checked that out with the volt meter. The park switch however never breaks contact. The other park switch I have doesn't seem to work either. I'm not that hung up on it not working since the car is destined to be a stripped out race car anyway. I do want to street drive it however, and living in oregon, that means wipers and defogers must work. I had the entire heater box spread across the bedroom today to get all the vacuum motors working. The blower motor is all fixed up now as well, which figures since that's one part I do appear to be able to buy new.

The other problem I have is that the origonal wiper arms are gone and someone put some crappy after market universal fit things on it that really don't work at all. So I have to score some proper wiper arms as well. I'm kind of thinking about trying to score some of the airfoil ones from a '64 polara.
