Not my "cup of tea"

Reminds me of that mess that was made out of that 60 plymouth wagon

Probably looked good on paper?????

As its not finished (just the headlights?), I wonder if the car was taken off the owner or its an otherwise forced sale?

Anyway, someone will love it

i know it sounds harsh.... but..... honestly, to do such an atrocity and to enjoy the look of it you gotta have a sick mind. it looks so stupid and wrong. and what was gained? is it a convertible? no. is it a hardtop? no. it can't even be driven at higher speeds that way. it isn't really drivable anymore. not to mention that driving it would qualify you as a jerk. again. wtf?

I can almost see little projector headlights buried back inside the headlight buckets. The whole thing looks like it was intended for a remake of the Munsters.

I think the headlights are actually there, he just replaced them with HID bulbs or something like that.

It is understandable that not everyone will like the roof conversion, but everyone has gotta love those door panels and seats. That is pure class.

To me it's not so much "once owned by elvis or dean" but more like "elvis or dean expired in this car and wanted to feel like they were already in the casket"

Huh? You could always just smog it and register it normally. And when I lived in Colorado, even the collector vehicles had to be smogged; just that you only had to do it once every 5 years. Have things changed in the colored state?

Yikes! I wonder when they added this to the auction. I was following a couple of cars there and did not notice this one!

I gotta say, $20K for a 60's radical kustom probably isn't too bad. However, I think the roof contributes to the structural integrity of the car. That given, this opera coupe is just a show piece. I imagine if you hit a pothole in that rig, the back window might fall in!

I like how they drew out the fins, but I wish they would have done some tail light treatment like the headlights, instead of the bumper mounted Caddy stuff.

eh those tail lights are a bit much, im sure everyone was "How much would this cost to put back?"... and those tail lights aren't going to be a quick fix and the roof would be a pita... then the interior..

step 1. Fix tail lights and bumper
step 2. Rip out non stock interior and replace(ouch)
step 3. Fix headlights
Step 4. keep the roof or figure out if the car is supported(1969? May not be) or was it a hack job?)
step 5, Now repaint (ouch)

Really, now.....has anyone ever driven a car with a roof like that? If you get much over 30MPH there would be so much turbulence you'd go nuts after a few minutes. And in a car like that you'd need to go really fast in order to outrun the laughter.

Those pea-shooter lake pipes should drown out most of the laughter.

They probably take the horse power rating of that 392 down to about 116.

Do NOT touch the sill plates when you get out of the car.

I'd take the body off the frame and keep the running chassis with the insturments and steering..........that's it! But don't know where I'd go with it. Naw, on second thought, I'll let someone else have all the fun!

don't know how the guy expects to profit on it, he did nothing and it still needs serious work. Its probably only with the 20k, simply due to the amount of work needed

Its got to be a custom, since the entire interior is gone and your going to pay a pretty penny for the interior restore since you have nothing.

All you gotta do is find yerself one of those couches people make and hack and replace the rear end. Weld in the hard top and roll with the pimp interior.
Eventually you can save up enough to buy an interior from Legendary......

Why would a customizer destroy a lower end model? Doesn't make sense. But the VIN & title should prove it out pretty quickly.

I spoke with the seller when the car first went on the market.   YES, its a 300D real deal.   Y'all have to remember even Chrysler Letter Cars were just old used cars worth little at some point in their history.

A few years back,I was working a scrap job for a old time hotrodder that was moving and had this unfinished custom thunderbird in a barn. It was started way back in the day and just never finished? It was ALL hand fab bed steel. If I remember right it had a 427 engine. It was for sale for 15k. I not much of a custom car fan,but this one is pretty cool the front hood and bumper work were all custom hand made. I recently came across this video of the car after it was towed out of the barn. https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=1hek909&qft=+filterui%3auserpag...
