Yes I have bought it , its coming to Australia ! Has a great story with it also . The guy was upset to sell it , but as his wife had died there were no more memories to be cherished with her . Its been a perfect original 25 years ago and some one has painted it cheaply over a perfect body and paint to resell it , and the trim was redone at the same time incorrectly and also cheap marine carpet on the floors and door panels at the same time . The bottom line is its never been hit , its not rusty and it original born with sweet running original Hemi which is all I ask for ! Its been dry stored in a temperature controlled garage the last 25 years . Cant wait to be driving it !
The car needs detail items sorting out and I can see some spaghetti wiring , but as long as its a rolling restoration I am happy .

You got a good deal, I hate to see it leave the states but at least it's going to a good home.

Possible buyers remorse or a quick profit flip.

You can hope, but can't necessarily expect, to collect overhead fees like shipping and taxes, the car's value is what it is, irrespective. Improvements made to the car are another story, depending on what they are and how well done.

In general down under the sale prices do take into consideration shipping, taxes, exchange rate etc. Also on our side of the ditch in NZ the first compliance and rego check can run 2k + depending on the vehicles needs to get "NZ roadworthy". If you bring in a rusty or badly repaired POS look out, it's gonna get real expensive.

From what I've seen, the guys that are most succesful at importing and selling cars on usually work on $2-3K profit margins. Which I think is very fair considering the risk involved.

What we are seeing down here is huge numbers of cars coming in or already here, surely there will be a tipping point where supply will firmly out weigh demand.....maybe it's already happening.

That may be true, but certainly not with '57 New Yorkers. The supply of those isn't going up anytime soon.

Yep, the market's even smaller for '57 New Yorkers.....far better off bringing in a '57 Chevy if you wanna sell it on.
