Has anyone here done a front disc conversion on a '61 Newport?
I have done it on mine but the tyre shoulder rubs on the inner guard lip on curtain turning degrees.
The conversion has positioned my wheels further outwards. I am running 235/70R15 tyres without previous trouble.
My calliper mounting bracket is made to fit on the outer face of the stub axle were as I have noticed on this site that they are made to be fitted on the inner face.

Is this available for the Newport or do I need to change stub axles to have the conversion work?

On my '60 Plym I used '77 NYer disc spindles w/o problems.

What parts did you use for your conversion?

Hoppers stoppers stuff or from the US?

I will be setting up discs for the plymouth, but I want to use locally available stuff if I can

I have the same sized tires on the rear of my dodge and they only just fit in there, I have 205/75/R14C tires on the front

Hi Mick,

Sorry for the delayed reply.

I received my conversion kit from Elco in Melbourne.

If I cannot bring the wheels back in with different disc's etc then I will convert back to drums.

If you look at the 'Midstate Mopars Bendigo' heading on the Aussie site, my car is the first pic of a white car.

Must go, off to work.

What about Chrysler Valiant or Charger spindles? Did they have disc?

They probably have Mopar1.

Have come across another supplier of Chrysler parts, new and old, called Hemi Performance.
They are in a number of states around Australia so will discuss my brake situation with them once I complete my fuel tank job.
Came across them while searching for a fuel tank pick-up line filter which they have new in stock.

The A Arm mounts may be closer on the later spindles, I posted a Thread about extended shaft ball joints to restore full travel they come 1" or 1/2" longer.
