After sitting idle for 42 years, it sprang to life. All we did was pull, clean and set the spark plugs, pulled and cleaned the points, put a new battery in it and sprayed starter fluid down the carburetor and turned the key and my 1960 Dodge Dart came to life.
We added nothing new to the engine. This was a true barn find, all the electrical works, one crank on the starter and it came alive.
This car was not my first choice, I bought this one when we couldn't find a car like my first car. Then we found my first car this one was relegated to be the parts car. I worked on the 4dr. hardtop, doing the body work, sanding down the whole car and primed it. When I removed the interior, seats and flooring and found the entire floor was shot all the way through the sub-frame and rockers. The sub-frame looked like swiss cheese and would have taken more than I had equipment to handle.
When I first got the 4dr. sedan, I pulled the plugs and air cleaner and poured Marvins Mystery Oil into all and left it sit. I knew the engine was free but didn't know what it would take to get it running.
Then I had a seizure that knocked the life out of me. After two years I decided, with my wife's insistence to put my energy toward getting the sedan up and running. Well I am starting this journey not knowing if I will be able to finish it since I can't do much of the work myself.
I don't know if I can get any pictures up or not but I will try.

Catch ya'll later.

That's really cool. This hobby can be good for your health too as long as you don't overdo it.
My Windsor had been sitting since 1979 or so and it runs really well too, but I had to replace a lot of stuff like the water pump, fuel pump, gas tank, carb etc.

A lot of that has to be checked out yet. I going to have the gas tank pulled and checked and have new fuel lines put in. I have new wheel cylinders and brake shoes. The main body work is the rear quarters and a couple small spots else ware.
I can't get my pictures from Pictures to the thread, if anyone can help me please PM me so as not to take up space on the thread and I will be able to print it out. Thank you.

Catch ya'll later.

Good luck!... working on a car can be therapeutic in itself, a goal to achieve is a very good thing, you'll get 'er done!

We put it up on the hoist to see what it looks like underneath. It looks very solid, surface rust on the rails, front floor pans shot, scraped some undercoating off and found clean metal.
I have floorpans so that's not a big deal. The tailpipe was full of holes but the muffler still looked good and working (don't know for how long) but I have 4 NOS mufflers that I found at a fleamart
about five years ago. I have to have the radiator checked out to make sure it OK. The car is has a Powerflite transmission in it but I want to put a Toqueflite in it, I have one.
I was going to take the dash to paint it so I will put the other dash that has the right pushbuttons in after painting it. That's a lot that has to be done that I can no longer do so I don't know how long
it's going take, my wife can only do so much ( GOD bless her ).

Catch ya'll later.

Trans works but took pan off to check it out. It had a 1/4" of sludge in the bottom of the pan. Cleaned it out, checked and cleaned up the internals and put the pan back on. Put fluid in it and tried it out on lift, goes thru gears good. Engine purrs like a layed back lion, sounds good. I am concerned the rings may not hold up but won't know that until it's run more. Brakes are next, we have everything we need.

I forgot about the 1960 Dodge "optional" angle iron front bumper. I really like seeing people putting one back on the road and not worrying about looks. Take your time because its worth it.

That's my tow bracket, I took the hitch tongue off. Daa

The Metro are a poor mans ride, especially if he is driving 150 miles round trip every day.
Blew the engine on two and the body went on the one in the middle. The one in the middle
has a good engine that is going into the car on the right. At 45 miles per gallon ain't bad.
I could get a weeks worth of driving out of it.
